I stumbled upon this a few minutes ago, and it's sobering, to say the least. It's hard to believe that people like this actually exist. God help us all.

Well, yeah. But keep in mind, this was before the film was released. Most of these people probably heard by word of mouth, or throught the "publicly released" script.

I'm not that surprised. Monty Python's the Life of Brian had similar problems. Most of it before the release of the film.
But...
If your making a mockery of a religion in any way, your bound to annoy the hell out of people who are devout.
Religion isn't just a badge you where, its a way of life.
Of course, I'm being a little strong in my words, Dogma doesn't make a mockery of any religion.

But the important thing is, Dogma rocks =]

It certainly raises a few points about the practice of Catholicism though. I think it was in the Simpsons once that the billboard outside the church said -
Catholocism - Come for the mass, stay for the guilt!

Oh and yes, Dogma does indeed rock.

Why does this not suprise me? I haven't liked any of Disny's movies for a LONG time. Well, no fear, I'll let God handel them. He's very good at that you know. Man, I can't wait till judjment day.

Yes, when you know/think that millions of people will be going to hell.. is that a good thing to look forward to?

... Have you SEEN Dogma? It raises very good points about the Catholic sect, and hell even Christianity itself. Give it a view and see if your ignorance can be put on the backburner for a couple hours. Maybe you'll learn something.

Imagine what these people must have thought when Disney released Kill Bill.

Hey, obi. You do realize that on "judgement day" you're not going to come out a winner? You judge other people based on their beliefs. You tell other people they are wrong. You have a closed mind, and you think you're right about everything. I believe your God calls that pride. And I believe your God frowns upon that.

Love thy neighbor. Father forgive them, they know not what they do.

You're supposed to pray for others, not tell them they're going to burn in hell. Stop being an *** .

I like Kevin Smith movies... Jersey Girl aside. I have them all, except Dogma, but not because I have any objections to it, but because I always forget to pick it up when I go to the store.

People look for stuff to blame. It's as simple as that. Movies like Kevin Smith's are easy targets.

I liked Dogma, it was entertaining, and a little funny at times. But its arguments were so ridiculously flawed I wasn't even bothered by it.

It simply restated nonsense people have been saying for 2000 years, stuff that stopped bothering me when I realised that you never argue with one who feels that he or she has reached a conclusion.

Well, first of all it's not really a "Disney" movie. It was written/directed by Kevin Smith. Second, I can tell you haven't even seen the movie. So I'm telling you, go watch Dogma right now. I can promise, unless you're some religious bonehead who believes everything you're told, you WILL NOT be offended by the religious aspects of it. To put it simply, Dogma is a religious satire through which Kevin Smith explores some of the Catholic Church's more questionable practices and beliefs, and anyone who says otherwise most likely hasn't seen the movie. And last of all, I think you'll be in for a suprise on "Judgement Day".

Dogma would have been a good movie if Jay and Silent Bob werent in it. I just cant stand those characters... but I do like how Kevin Smith uses basically the same cast for every film.

Slightly digressing, but there was a movie in planning about that (The Last Temptation) or something .. I dunno if it was ever released.
It's also mentioned and theorized in a variety of book (most well-known prolly the Da Vinci Code)..

Note to all of you who feel like arguing religion with me: I'm atheist, I really don't give a damn, so if you feel like giving me a scathing, foolproof rebuttal, go ahead .. I'm not going to argue, not worth my time xP

Wow, some people need to STFU. It's a movie.

Of course if it bashed the jewish or muslims, the christians wouldn't care. But then it pokes fun at their religion and OhhhHHhhhhHHh! You can't do this! Bah them. it's like the people that say "OH, he's black, he is allowed to say n****, or make fun of black people, but your not black, so you can't do that!" "Oh he's jewish, he acn make fun of other jews, but you can't because...."

I'm merely talking about in the movie.

But yah, Dogma was great, and I love the way Kevin Smith conveyed his message through it. Even if he does like Macs, he gets my seal of approval as a movie creator/director/etc. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Miramax actually. Miramax is a company owned by Disney, designed to produce movies that aren't kid friendly. Like action/violent movies.

People seem to forget that Dogma was written and directed by a Catholic. It's one of the most pro-religion mainstream films ever made: Not only does it take the existance of God and Jesus as his son as fact, but its central journey is about someone regaining their faith in religion. Sure it might have fart jokes and swearing, but that doesn't make it anti-religion. In fact, it makes a far more convincing case for the benefits of religion than "The Passion" ever did.
