Not sure if this should be here or in the tech forum, I trust the mods will move it to the correct place.

So I go to my drawer to get my creative nomad mp3 player only to find that I had forgotten to remove the battery last time I used it. I see crusted battery acid over part of the case and on the inner contact fot the battery. I cleaned it up a little bit and put a new battery in and it still works. So i'm wondering if I should still use it until I can afford a new mp3 player(which will happen eventually) or should I junk it and just use it as a jump drive?

The attached pic shows some of the damage, it doesn't show the remains on the battery contact though.

Sure...I'd use it - why not? Clean it up as best you can :)

It should be fine for a long time... unless you let it happen again...

If it still works why not use it as an mp3 player?

It's fine. The battery is what went bad. I've had that happen to flashlights on numerous occasions and they've continued to work fine.

Yeah, I've a mini Maglite that the battery got corroded and stuck inside. An hour of soaking in a bottle of Coke and a jab from a screwdriver got it out, and cleared a bit of the corrosion inside.
