I have tried and failed, tried and failed. I have also looked on google and it hasn't been much help. Does anyone know (or could figure out a way) to turn a normal voice into a combine/metrocop style voice from Half-life 2 in Goldwave? I know you can help me Massassi :)

Hi-pass filter at 800 Hz, Lo-pass filter around 4-5 khz. Add noise to taste.

No, there's more to it than that, they have that weird like woobooblelooobbgh voice. I don't know how to do that though. :(

Oh yeah, **** forgot about that, haven't played HL2 in a while.

Try playing around with a flanger.

Record through a bull horn or something.
Pissed Off?

Using a hi-pass and low-pass filter bascially gives the same effect, since the frequency response of most horn drivers are pretty crappy, typically from 1khz-5khz, or in that area. :)

Oh, and get Audacity instead of Goldwave. Now.

Actually, for tone shaping... Yes.

If you check the credits, suprisingly the combine voice was performed by a woman.

Yeah I know, maybe that's why I can't do it :(

Proof, should we need it, that boobs = opression.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Try pitch-shifting the voice.
2006-02-17, 2:32 PM #15
I did change the pitch. It still doesn't have that crackling sound that the combine have.

Do the mechanize tool on Goldwave.

Give me a sample of what you're trying to accomplish, and I might be able to figure it out.
I'm just a little boy.

I would say pitch-shift it, then download a clip of some static from the web and overlay it, that should give you the crackly effect, anyway. Maybe then a subtle highpass filter.

Fun fact: the "bloop" radio sound the combine make is possibly exactly the same as the sound made by a walkie-talkie I have. IIRC.
