Satanic murders?

Now I honestly thought people today were above this sort of crap. But apparently not.

I'm just glad this happened overseas, and not anywhere near North America.

Even in movies they don't do this sort of thing anymore... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

They were probably insane. I bet most "Satanists" are.

That's not good.

I don't really trust anyone who follows a satanic "religion".

Seriously, someone who kills people like this can't be put off as doing it because they are satanists. They are mad/mentally ill. It's just like the video game violence debate.

Yes, but don't you have to be mad/mentally ill to be a Satanist? Anyone ever read the Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey? It's a great read if you need a good laugh. The interesting thing about "Satanists" that many people tend to overlook, is the fact that the vast majority of them don't even believe in Satan.

Okay, I know I don't post much here, but I have to say something to this.

I really hate it when people call a murder "satanic". Killing people is not a part of Satanism. What these people are calling "satanic" would be closer to devil-worship, if anything. And even then, I wouldn't blame it on their beliefs. Anyone who would kill for the reasons they mentioned in the article needs serious help.

Quote:
Satanism and devil worship are two distinctly different animals. Devil worship is what it is: the worship of an external deity (in this case, a "devil"), much as it could be labeled inverse Christianity -- that is, confining yourself to the Christian religion and overall model, but merely choosing the "bad guy" in their Bible instead of the purportedly central character. The Satan in Satanism is an archetype, one many know by name and is relative to the culture.

-from www.satanism101.com

And nowhere in any books or official sources from the Church of Satan does it say "Go and kill in the name of Satan!" or other such nonsense. In fact, closer to the opposite.

Christians are to Satanists what Satanists are to Christians, and just because the majority of people nowdays is Christian, Satansists are "bad" and "evil". Utter bull**** if you ask me, in fact, I find Satanism to be an extremely interesting religion, tho I don't believe it holds any truth. It's just that I've talked to several followers of Satanistic beliefs, and I found their stories to be quite fascinating. Oh, and those are perfectly normal people, if they wouldn't have told me they were Satanists, I'd never, ever, have guessed it.

I cannot, possibly, believe that people have such opinions towards Satanists. I mean, that's like ASKING to get people mad.

Thank you SonOfSatan. I give you my seal of approval as most inteligent post. I have given up trying to explain my reglion to others unless I'm doing a standard "Let me Entertain You". I would just like to ask if you are a Satanist or if I'm still the only Massassian on the Left Hand Path.
Anyone, with an open mind, interested in real Satanism as it exists today should buy the Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey or check out www.churchofsatan.com and download the information pack.

There's always people that make their religion look bad, don't judge them that fast, Jin. They're not all furries.

heh... y'know, I actually find that pic funny, too. So I dunno what you're cracking up about and calling sad, Jin. Just out of curiosity, is that the furthest into the site you went?

Oh, and gothicX - that's the first image you see when you go to the Church Of Satan website. I'm pretty sure the guy in the center is Anton LaVey.
2004-06-10, 5:16 AM #20
On their website, they go into great detail explaining the difference between themselves and "other" Satanic groups, anyone that claims to be a derivitive of their group, and why the pentagram is not the symbol of their religion. [So no, that image is not the furthest I went in. I did look around quite thoroughly.] I'm laughing because on their main image to entering their website, they have the most stereotypical image of a "devil" one could imagine, that looks like its come right out of a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

It'd be like a Christian website that's intended to be taken seriously, but with the Buddy Jesus logo as the intro. It's just plain silly. [Which is what the "How sad." comment is referring to.]
[I also think the animal head costumes are pretty lame, too. Sure, Egyptian mythology had their fair share of Gods with animal heads - but a bunch of guys wearing costumes doesn't exactly inspire the evil in people. But if I see a Christian dressed up as Jesus, then I'll take back everything I've said. Ehehe. Religious folk are so funny.]

Heh...actually, I'd like to see a Christian site with Buddy Jesus on the first page.

Maybe they meant it to be funny? Maybe they're trying to show that, hey, we have a sense of humor, too?

...then again, I don't know exactly why they put it up. Maybe the reason's on the site somewhere.

You're exactly right. I emailed the site admin, and this is the response I recieved.

Makes sence. the 'too serious to enjoy anything' types are very likely those involved in the murders. Being serious all the time can lead to some big problems.

This puzzles me a bit...

Satanic murders = "HEY! It was just one small group of people who aren't really even Church of Satan and they were probably just insane anyway, it has nothing to do with their religion!"

Islamic fanatics performing terrorist acts = "That's a very small group of individuals who really shouldn't even be called Muslim because they don't follow the real message of the Koran, it's wrong to condemn the whole religion because of a small group of people."

Catholic priest sex abuse = "See, this is just another case of Christian hypocrisy and how destructive Christianity can be. The world would be better off without Christians."

....welcome to postmodernism. Everyone's right, unless you're mainstream.

Heh, except That I wore black not for anarchism, but for love of metal, entirely different thing you're stereotyping with.

Anyway, yes, if you beleive anarchism is good, well you'd have to be on another planet. Anarchism is the lack of authority. You are your own judge, jury, and everything. You can do anything. But the thing is, so can everyone, and thus, a true anarchist society cannot truly exist, why? We're animals, we are -meant- to live in packs, like wolves, lions, and other beings. Even living beings that have a rather secluded culture at some point have a higher authority to submit too. Think of it, vision of authority is just a natural instinct. It's also a very common fact for kids to see anarchy as the best thing in the world. Why? Well, because they just don't know what it is.

Without authority, our world as it is would crumble, and stop evolving as a whole, and in the end, power would -still- be in the hands of the strongest, except now that money wouldn't make anyone stronger, it'd be like a tribe of lions, leader feeds first, and then it's free for all, the strongest wins.

So does that make the people who rise up and overthrow an oppressive government are "little kids" and need lots of help? I'm 15, and I wear black more than most people. Does that make me crazy?

Anyway, if Satan in Satanism isn't Satan from the Bible, than what is he?
