I kid you not

I read this in Wizard magazine as well. Finally found photos of it online. They were aiming for a cross between The Dark Knight Returns and the original Batmobiles. Since a tank would just tear up the concrete.

The rear looks pretty good but shouldn't it be more sleeker at the front. It looks like it belongs on the battlefield and not the streets of Gotham City.

And I thought they couldn't do worse since the last movie in designing the Batmobile...

Well, when you think about it, this guy is just starting out. He probably doesn't have the mind yet to design a Dodge Viper on steroids type Batmobile that we see in the other movies. Naturally it'll look like something you just slapped together in a junkyard with mobile stuff. Who knows, when it ends, he might have the original Batmobile.

Let's look at it this way: Batman did not make the Batmobile. He did not design or build it. Obviously, when he is starting out, he doesn't have the contacts yet to have someone design and build him the car. So he has to build something himself, and doesn't have the tools to build some sleek, sweet ride.

Damn that thing is ugly. The batmobile that was in the Batman movie starring Michael Keaton was, in my opinion, the best looking Batmobile. Oh, and the one that was in the Warner Brothers animated Batman series was also awesome.

not sure if you all are getting this or not... ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FUGLY!! Like THRAWN has been saying, he built this one himself. Even in the animated series, it showed a bit about how the batmobile came about.

Yeah I remember that episode.

And I think the car is hilarious looking. My brother use to own a race car years ago that kind of looked like that. It also reminds me of the APC in Aliens.

It's nice, but it's no Batmobile. More like an urban assault vehicle.

They have had pictures of the new batmobile on the Batman Begins website for a few months now:

http://batmanbegins.warnerbros.com/page.html

Personally, I think it couldve been a lot worse. I've also heard that this is not the batmobile itself, but the car that the batmobile will be based on in the movie.

Best Batmobiles:

1) BTAS Revamp Batmobile
2) Burtonmobile
3) BTAS First version
4) 60's Batmobile
5,6,7) Batman Forever/& Robin/Begins.

The one for begins is just... >_< Since when did you need an APC to roam city streets?

Isn't the whole point of having a 'batmobile' to have a ride that matches batman's costume and look, with the 'wings' in the back and such? This new one is absolutely horrible. Maybe if batman was dressed like an army grunt and carried around a rocket launcher on his shoulder, MAYBE. Almost makes me not want to see the movie.

You guys are just totally ignoring what I said about why they chose this, aren't you? Personally I think its great. Sure it's not cool looking, but choosing something so ugly for starting out is awesome.

Why assume that a man with as much as Bruce Wayne would be unable to afford to at least paint his car the proper color? I mean... the car isn't even black!

Just shoot me. Please. Why the hell do they always insist on ruining something totally awesome? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

It's like the shields... the shields in the first movie were so cool! They were like "shleeek!" and then it's like in the second movie they downgraded to that "chink chink chink chink!" ... *sob*

The only downer for that car is you can't have a hot chick in the passenger seat next to you to make out with. Since there's a giant piece of metal between seats.

Ok, so I get the whole "he's just starting out" reason. BUT, that thing looks like it would be just as expensive as the regular batmobile. They should've given him something more akin to the Batmobile from the 40's & 50's. It looked like something he would've had when he was first getting started. THAT APC/WARTHOG/DEATH MACHINE thing is ridiculous, pure and simple. For one thing, it is completely impractical. Driving through tight city streets in that thing would be a nightmare, unless you're gonna drive like a monster truck, rolling over and smashing cars, which that thing could do. Two, I personally think they wanted it to appeal to people that like big, flashy/gaudy SUVs.

Really, that doesn't say 'Batman' to me. It doesn't even say 'Punisher' to me. Maybe 'Master Chief', but not 'Batman'.

Jedi Legend, I think it's the lighting. The yellow/blue/red spot lights shining on it probably do it. If you went to the offical site, they have a few pictures on there as well.

Right. Because continuity is regarded so highly in comics...
