I don't think anybody knows this, but I'm an aspiring jazz guitarist in my last year of high school. I applied to two institutions with international reputations in jazz studies, the University of Toronto and Humber College (both in southern Ontario). In a nutshell, Toronto is pretty much the jazz capital of Canada (along with Montreal), and the faculty at both of these schools is world-class. The people who teach at Humber and U of T are literally some of the best jazz players in the world.
Long story short, I got accepted to the Humber foundations program (basically, I go there for a year and then re-audition for the three year program) after sitting on a wait list for three weeks. Considering the amount of people who apply for guitar, I'm pretty freaking pleased - I went to a 2 day audition prep workshop, and there must have been fifty or sixty guitarists (compared to like two sax players, three pianists and ten or so drummers). The odds were even worse than that when you consider that not everybody who applied went to the workshop.
So yeah. Posting from me is definately going to taper off once I move in to residence (tuition and residence are going to cost about 10000 of my useless Canadian dollars) because this is something I really want to succeed at, but I thought I'd post to spread the joy of "I got in to Humber!"
Anyways, I figure on going out in a blaze of glory around mid august or so...
