I just got raped...

I took my car in to get it repainted (same color).. there was some sun fading on certain spots... I paide $300 to get it redone..

I picked my car up today, and this is what I saw...

1. They painted over parts that wasn't supposta be painted. (door handles, and a big firebird emblem on the back)

2. The got pain all over the windows and mirrors..

3. they didn't take the mirrors off and pant the side facing the window...

4. The sanded only PARTS of the car before painting it, wil a HIGH grade of sandpaper, so there are many areas that have sanding scratches under the paint...

5. The removed some moldings to paint under, and didn't put them back on.. I guess they just kept them...

6. They didn't buff the paint out after painting it, so it has an "orange peel" look to it.. in some spots it is so bad that you can't even see your reflection in it, because it is so bumpy...

it seriously looks like they gave a 5 year old a can of black spray paint and said "have at it"... i got a warrenty on it, and I am taking it back on thursday... THEY'D BETTER fix it!!

That sucks, man..I'd be pissed. See if you can get them to properly repaint the entire car, since they messed it up..

Shut up Emon, it's not "his fault." Businesses just ****ing suck these days, you should get what you pay for, not have some acne ridden first dayer **** up your car. When you're paying that much, it's not YOUR FAULT. It's the businesses fault. Stupid ****.

a place called Econo Auto Paint (or something..) it's on OBT...

Emon, how was I supposta know that place sucked so bad...? I wasn't getting the color changed, so it shouldn't have been over $300 no matter where I took it... so i don't see how it's my fault..

No man, if I payed $5.. I still would have been getting ripped off.. they sell black spray paint at wal-mart for like $2.66

No, he didn't.
He paid $300 dollars to get all of his **** ****ed up. His contract (probobly) states that he will be getting his car repainted, to his satisfaction for $300.

Um i got a deal on my repaint and i paid $900, if you goto a professional paint shop they usually charge 1500-2000 for a full repaint with clear coat.

OBT? Ouch. Those stores on OBT are BAD! I know a lot of stories of people that have been ripped off at other places on that road too.

No dude.. My brother had his car's color changed and it was around $800... but that was up in IL... maybe it's different in different places?

It's no so much that it's his fault for them screwing it up, but his fault for not being aware and then being suprised at the results. I wouldn't be suprised if he missed a good bit of fine print.

TwistedSoul is right about the prices. Real paint jobs cost a LOT.

Anyone who rags on a guy who just lost $300 and the diginity of their car, should be smacked in the face. I think Spiral learned his lesson, actually more than learned it. Sorry man to hear about you car. Firebirds are so nice, and I'd be extremely depressed if anything ever happened to my KITT- ermmm.... Trans Am.

Spiral, for $300 you could buy all the equipment to do it yourself. And considering your talent, it wouldn't be hard. You don't even have to strip it down. Just sand and recoat.

If I can get a mirror finish with a spray can, you can get one on your car.

yeah... well I guess the place I took my 73 to was just ultra special good (got teh color changed from blue to black...

before

and it was a color change, door jams and everything... again, this was in IL.. in a small town... Lived there my whole life... (damn city life!!)

At least you have some photographic evidence that your car was FREAKING BEAUTIFUL before they totally screwed you over. That would hold up nicely in a lawsuit.
