Was there really ever a point to this game?

I was looking through my bookmarks when I came upon an old game: Defend Your Castle! I started to play it, and I've reached a point-- actually, I reached it about 10 stages ago-- where, besides clicking save and OK after each stage, my interaction is no longer required. I have 750 archers, 200 handymen, 200 wizards, and my castle is at 250k armor points. I just basically sit here and watch the archers take everything out. As if anything really gets close enough to actually cause any amount of damage, I have plenty of armor and way more than I need of handymen to repair it. Was this really the point of the game? The FAQ says it has iffinite levels, but would it really matter?

Hmph, here's a link for anyone that cares.

BTW, I'm up to 32k enemy casualties, and just under 6.5 million in points, about 2 million of that is currently spendable. I'm also at stage 42.

Oh yeah, I had that up to somewhere around level 160 at one point. 3500 archers, 2000 craftsman.... etc., etc.

It was getting to the point where a single level would take nearly an hour to complete.

EDIT: No, there's not really a point. Other than to get past about level 20. After that, it basically consists of hitting "3" and the mouse button in rapid succession at the left side of the window, over and over.

I wonder, will it keep my save game even if I close the browser/shut down?

That game was fun. There's a bottleneck around stage 14 or so where if you haven't bought the right stuff, you're toast. Once you pass the bottleneck, it's all downhill.
