I just witnessed a hit & run against a parked vehicle.

The ****er sped off when he noticed I was watching him. He caused moderate damage to the car he struck, but his red stretch-cab Ford F-350 remained unscathed. He looked like he was twenty. What a jerk. He ran so fast I couldn't get his license plate number.

Some jackass did that to my car, in a parking lot. Broke my headlight, and banged up the panel pretty good too. Had to buy a new headlight fixture, and bang out all the dents. Still needs more dent work and a whole new paintjob now.

Within a week or two of me driving to my high school with my license (after driving for a summer), someone backed into my car and dented the bumper.

What a person does in that situation shows how truly responsible they are. When there's no one around and you can just drive away, will you do it, or will you leave a note with your contact information?

A lot of people think they are responsible but aren't.

I saw an old lady misjudge the front end of her car and hit a fruit stand (like a wooden shed with a window to sell fruit from, really). Put a big crack in it. She drove out of there like a bat out of Hell. Stupid old people drivers. :banned:

I once barely sideswiped this car when I was parking. A little spit and some thumbwork got the red paint off and that was all there was to it. If it had scratched the car or caused other damage I would've left a note.

I've bumped some bumpers parallel parking a few times too. Same as Schming, it was just a matter of rubbing off some paint.

I somewhat recently saw someone back out of a parking space and run into another parked car...but I got the plate # and talked to the car's owner after she came back out of the school..she even knew who it was from the vehicle description. Busted.. :p
woot!

Neighbour driving an SUV backed out and hit my car near the petrol cap. My brother (he still drove it back then) came back a few hours later, noticed the damage, and also noticed an SUV with bumper damage and dark blue paint scrapes at the exact height of where his car was hit. The jerk backed out into my car but didnt think twice about it and went and did his things, then parked back in his driveway. What an idiot.

Odd this thread should pop up today...

I'm just about to leave to go to the Coroner's Court to give evidence to an inquest into the fatal road accident I narrowly avoided being involved in last summer.

Did you leave a notice that you were a vitnes? At least you saw the guy and know how his car looks. Perhaps the police will spot him.
Dunno how it is in the states but in Germany it's no big deal if you have a light accident without anyone injured. That's what insurances are for. But fleeing from the scene without leaving a notice and telling the police what happened is at the very least an offense. Might even be a crime.
Sorry for the lousy German

I believe that if you're the type of wreckless idiot that runs in to parked cars, you're probably too stupid to stay and face the consequences anyways. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time, but if you can't drive a car well enough to not hit parked cars, maybe you shouldn't be driving in the first place.

I thought about it, but really the police aren't going to be hunting down someone who caused a couple hundred bucks worth of damage then fled..

I recently saw a bunch of teenagers in one car fail at making a turn, ran over some plants (on public property) and hit a lampost on the side. Then they drove off but I got the license plate number. I wonder if I could report on the basis of stupidity.

Dammit, I know, but it had potential. It's like a kid dying. Both explode into red substances. Both have a sweet, slightly acidic taste

But seriously, what the hell am I talking about? Tomatos are gross

What's better than a hit & run on a sack of dead babies?

Pretty much everything.

I watched a hit and run once. And the woman whos car that got hit came walking by not long after . I tried to run up to tell her what happened, since you couldnt notice the damage right away, but she thought I was going to do something to her I guess since she ran and peeled off.

I was only trying to help

somewhat related:

i parked quick at target to pick up my check and cash it before i went to work, so after i get my check and go back to my car, i back out of the parking space, and im almost completely parallel to the 'road' im on (in parking lot terms) when i do the "you're done backing up, now it's time to drive forward head spin" i see this black blur out of the corner of my eye.

of course i was looking through my back window to make sure i wasnt going to hit anyone walking behind me. and isn't it just common sense that people SLOW DOWN when they see a car backing out of a parking space from 20-30 feet away?

before i knew what had happened i heard it hit my rear bumper and it rubbed against most of the driver side of the other car. my car dented the door in the other car real good, though it still closed. (i only got a tiny bit of plastic rubbed off from my bumper)

the driver was a woman, probably in her 60's or 70's.

I swear man, I see more accidents at Target than anywhere else.

I backed into someone else's car with the company's truck once. :o I'll be honest, I was going to be the b****d and high tail it...but I was caught. I was deducted $20 from paycheck for compensation for the tail-light over the course of 5 months. In retrospect, I would have cost the company SEVERE should I have fled the scene. I see that now. But during the time when I was a selfish prick, I had no trouble fleeing a scene that I caused just to save my own ***.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Actually, you're supposed to back into the parking space so this doesn't happen.

BAM, internet fight!

If everyone backed into parking lot spaces, there would be a lot more accidents.
