The fight between Me and Windows Messanger raged on for months...

It kept coming up in the oddest places, like my Starcraft folder... it's a mother-hating bizzatch to uninstall. Just do a search for it and manually 'disinigrate' every copy of it you find after you uninstall through the Control Panel.

You'll win the war... but it will choose the battlegrounds.

Erm, no?

Windows Messenger is a service, for NT OS's, like XP and 2k. It's not on ME. And it is only ran in one place, the services part of Windows.

He didn't say Windows Me. He said Me and Windows as in Him and windows.

do oyu simply want to turn it off or kill it permanently?

paste this into the winxp run console to kill messenger:

Code:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

reboot. Windows messenger should be nowhere to be seen.

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

If you read the column on the left when you highlight messenger, it says that it is not related to Windows Messenger. It's something between you and servers, whatever, I didn't read the whole thing. But that's not Windows Messenger.
