Today I went for my A+ (Hardware) Certification Test and I passed. Awesome. I'm going for the Software test in May. Out out everyone in my class, only three of us even passed. You needed a 515 to pass and I got a....515 0_o. I'm not dissapointed that I just passed, it's a hard test, and just passing it was an accomplishment. Noone really went in expecting to pass, as we have only been learning A+ material for about 5-6 months. We haven't even started Software and the test for that is 2 months away! Ahh! For now, celebration!

I don't even know what that is.

same. Why are you wasting time with A+ certification when you really just need to record more songs with Thrawn and drizzt?

My uncle said the A+ is one of the easiest certifications out there...well except maybe some MS certifications...

Good luck with anything more. Gratz nonetheless

I've heard it's easy from 2 people and very hard from 8 people if you include SAJN.

w00t! I just got certified a month ago. My scores weren't real good, but it's pass/fail. It's hard if you haven't been doing computers for years, because they have a lot of questions about legacy hardware. Also, they ask you how to do things that no sane human would ever want to do.

("In what order would you instal DOS, Winodws ME, NT, 2000, and 95 on one computer". Dumbest question ever.)

That doesn't always make them hard but it can. Also, it asks you the how to do things that you could easily do if you were at the PC, but hard to think of off the top of your head. And if you used to getting to a tool a different way, too bad, you have to memorize their way.

I just read the book, memorized the stuff that I didn't know. I can see how it would be easy for someone whose been doing computers for years and works on them a lot, but for a 16 year old who took up PC's three years ago because his sound wouldn't work in JK, it was a little tough. Not too bad though, if you read the book.

I too only got a 513. It's a rather hard test, but the most difficult part has got to be all of the rather useless information. The pinout charts for a processor chip? I mean, really. WHY do you need to know that?

Either you meant 515, or you just failed, and that sucks. :p

I would comment, except I have nothing good to say about the A+ Cert...

They did not even spell my name right on my Certificatiate.

Geek trivia. Everyone knows how important is to know every useless bit of info about Socket 7.

heheh

The software test is definitely worse than the hardware imo, all those little things about each OS that I definitely forgot right after I passed the test.

I guess that the A+ certification is something you get through school?

(Cheers on the passing grade, btw!)

It isn't a school exam. It's a computer certification test. Pretty much know everything about everything that has to do with computers to pass. It's just our Senior Electronics teacher is trying to certify the students in A+, so he gave us all the books and like 304912390471207312093 practice tests.

(Thanks, btw)

Er, doh. I meant 523. I don't exactly remember, but I know I passed. Got my certification sitting over my bed.
