Snape: Death Eater or Dumbledore's Man? [Major HP spoilers]

I've been reading http://www.dumbledoreisnotdead.com today, and it brings up a lot of points regarding whether or not Dumbledore is really dead, or whose side Snape is really on. Now, I don't really believe Dumbledore is alive, but I definitely think Snape is still on his side. Time and time again, Snape's loyalty is questioned by Harry and others, but Dumbledore always says with absolute certainty that Snape is loyal to him, and I believe it. That site lists of a lot of Snape is Good arguements, but one other I have is that at the end of HBP, he didn't kill Harry when he had the chance. All he did was block his spells and keep running.

So what do you think? Is Snape loyal to the Order, or is he a servent of Voldemort? Where do his loyalties really lie?

I think Snape should get a real job. Quit playing with fairy dust magic.

Dumbledore totally ordered him to.

Because Dumbledore orchastrates every single thing that happens in those books and it's all going to hell now that he's offed.

Very solid evidence...He has to be alive or at least Snape is still loyal.

I think his "please, severus..." before he was killed was a request for snape to kill him in order to carry on the illusion that snape was working for Voldemort. Because later snape will be an integral part in his downfall and dumbledore's life was worth less than that.

apologies for bad grammar and lack of capitalization, i'm strangely unmotivated right now.

Yes, I totally agree. Dumbledore would never plead for his life; he had to be asking Snape to do his part.

Now, I didn't read that page, but I always thought that Snape is loayal to Dumbledore. Remember the huge argument they had in the large book? I bet that was about Dumbledore ordering Snape to fullfill his oath. I guess Snape wanted to sacrifice himself but Dumbledore ordered him not to, because he was too important.
I think the reason he left the Death Eaters was Lilly, I think he was in love with her. He always talks about how bad Harry's father was, not about his mother. So I guess he feels guilty.

But I don't think that Dumbledore's alive. Although the phoenix is his symbol, he believes too much in the natural order of things (you can see that in the first book) to attempt to prevail his life.

that page raised some interesting questions, definatly made me think about snape in a different way and also about the ending of the last book...

*if* indeed snape is still on Harry's side the final book is going to have such a twist at the end that its going to put anything before it to shame...

Remember however that Dumbledore was very very weak at the time (although still strong enough to sub-due harry...uuummm) so...

actually I still don't think he would have begged for his life thinking about it, he was never scared of death and had complete faith that things would turn out alright as long as Harry was kept alive.

Damn you all for making me second guess the book, I thought I had it all worked out.
