Oblivion more.

Still look forward to both though.

Niether, sadly.

I don't care much for Oblivion, and NWN2 uses 3rd edition, which is silly.

Makes Half Elf bards usless :(

OBLiVION OMGLOL

it looks like pure awesomebox.

[Wow, the intelligence in that post was pretty low. Oh well. I'll make it up with this profound quote: "It is not which, but the for."]
DO NOT WANT.

On one hand, Oblivion is going to have interactive combat gameplay, minigame-based trade skills and a sprawling game world to explore.

On the other hand, NWN2 is being made by Obsidian Entertainment. Meaning it will be about as interactive as a board game, have idiotic AI, have dull and generic-looking tile-based areas and zero innovation whatsoever.

But they'll both have good graphics. That has to count for something, right?

I didn't like the original NWN because the combat is boring.

Duh, it's supposed to be like DnD.
Think while it's still legal.

YEAH.

If I wanted DND I'd go ****ing play it. I don't need a video game to accompany it.

Games + input = interesting

Game + pen and paper combat exclusive design = Wasted potential

It too sucked hardcore.

However, Oblivion features a NEW combat system. Much like the one in Fable. Which was hella freaking FUN.

This combined with the sprawling goodness of the Elder Scrolls series, should make this a pretty god damn awesome game.

Gothic 3

Although Oblivian does look better so far, graphically. But it's laughable that it's supposed to have sometimes bad framerate on the 360.
Sorry for the lousy German

I'm willing to give Obsidian another chance after KOTOR 2. And I'm pretty sure NWN2 uses the 3.5 ruleset and that has a pretty cool bard.

I see where Rob's gripe is. I would have liked more say in the combat. I realize it's based off of DnD rules and not much I can do, short of doing the math myself. Something more like KotOR's combat system would have been better sans the painful scrolling. One of the reasons why I play a mage class always. I'm actually part of the combat (selecting spells).
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Yeah, I always try to avoid playing an out-and-out Fighter in D&D games. But I'm looking forward to NWN2 a lot more than Oblivion. It's not that I'm not impressed by Oblivion, I'm just...I'm just 'enh' about playing it. On the other hand, I enjoyed NWN immensely (not so much the original campaign, but the user created stuff), and I'm looking forward to a similar experience with the sequel.
2006-03-15, 12:45 PM #24
I'd go with Oblivion, because I despise the Elder scrolls ever so slightly less than NWN.
nope.

The best way they can improve on Morrowind is to make the dialogue not suck.

I don't really care too much about single player RPGs. I'm more of a MMO whore when it comes to RPGs.

They actually did. No more text book dialogues. All of it is spoken and kept relatively short. The dialogue system is more like Kotor now.

Also, there is a lot of unscripted dialogue. You'll see NPC's talk to each other, invite friends into their homes, get into arguments and possibly fight, and other awesome stuff thanks to Radiant AI. :)
