I am not trying to provoke the anybody threads, nor am I supporting the use of Filesharing. However, I thought many people on this website would be interested to read

THIS

Its kind of old, but I didnt see anything about it here yet.

I wonder if they'll ever realize that they can't stop piracy.

If they find a way to shut down bit torrent, someone will come up with something else. They won't stop it. They can't.

Quote:
The MPAA has had a string of successes targeting sites that distribute movies in the BitTorrent file format, shutting down popular hubs...
Is it just me, or is somebody an idiot? "movies in the BitTorrent file format"? .torrent is not exactly a video file format. :|
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

I use bittorrent in the summer, when I'm not connected to the university DC hub.

You know, after all these years of them fighting, I haven't really noticed a hiccup in, um, activities. Seriously, I rue the day when they eventually score a victory.

Are you serious? It's never been easier.

Bittorrent the program sucks. Torrents are great. Use BitComet. (its twin version, BitLord is riddled with spyware.) But don't use it illegally! *cough*

uTorrent is superior as far as clients go. Last time I used bittorrent was to download this week's Diggnation, because the version that Juice pulled down was corrupted.

/me chuckles at the MPAA & RIAA.

When are they going to realize that their lack of ingenuity as an industry is their downfall, not "pirates"? When are they going to realize that people don't want to wait 6-12 months for their favorite movies to come out on DVD? There's an entire generation of people that now realize that they have the ability to watch and listen to what they want, when they want, and that in theory, there's no real need to wait. There are millions of people that would be willing to pay a reasonable price for instant media, but instead of giving them what they want in a format that is of superior quality, they sue us.

Meh, Torrentspy was quite useful but I never even got any Isohunt download working. At least my primary sites are still secured and surely out of the United States.

From all the programs I've tried, BitComet seems to get me at least download something pretty soon, but in general torrents are still quite slow for me :/

But still, I'm addicted to torrents :\

The **AA is wasting their time by going after torrents. What they need to do is go after the big release groups and public/private servers that these groups use as file lockers.
