The idea is that the US and China are the superpowers of the future and they, The Alliance, colonized the galaxy. The cultures of both superpowers are so widespread that everyone speaks both English and Chinese.

(It's) Mandarin. I don't watch that show, but the last time I used chinese to post on here (last time I posted in chinese on here), kyle90 told me that they (the people in firefly) speak it.


And I noticed that one very popular slang term has been omitted from that site, prolly cuz it's juvenile and too rude, but seeing as there're all those weird ones I half expected it to be on there hahah
