I'm quite tempted to do that...

ALright, I'm a little lost. Exactly how is that done?

There's 2 ways I can think of:

1) Taking a picture of where the monitor would be, then setting that as the background.

or

2) Using a camera of sorts that you could hook up to your computer and use like the streaming video feature to be your wallpaper. (Perhaps usign software that takes a picture with your camera every few seconds, then sets that as your wallpaper)

Are either of those right, or is there some other way of doing this?

I wouldn't want to go through all the trouple to move my big old monitor just so I could take a picture of the bare wall.

Bah, I thought of doing this almost three years ago; way before it ever hit the internet. If I had known then that everyone would think it was awesomely cool...

Ah well, there isn't even any way to prove that I thought it up on my own.

I've thought of it but I realized that it would have to match the lighting in the room constantly for it to actually look cool.

It wouldn't work on my monitor. All you'd see is CRT innards and blank wall.

They have some sort of web cam device on the back of it that streams to the desktop.
2006-03-26, 2:06 PM #14
No they don't. You move the monitor, take a photo, crop it and use it as your background. There's tutorials all over google. Plus if you used a webcam it wouldn't line up as you wouldn't be able to see enough image through the lens.
nope.
