Finally, a break in the case

A big break, in fact.

Some of you might remember this thread about a young lady, who competed in beauty pagents and stuff, murdered in my small town.

So here we are, over 3 months later with no arrests, and finally the s.o.b. boyfriend turns himself in.

I assume you get a slightly less harsh sentence if you turn yourself in?

Who knows. I hope not. Geez. Murder of a 19-year-old girl. Here's more news:

The body of 19 year old Nona Dirksmeyer was found in her Russellville apartment on December 15th --With cut wounds and bruises all over her.
Friday Russellville Police arrested her 20 year old boyfriend, Kevin Jones.
Prosecuting attorney, David Gibbons, said little about the evidence in the case, but he did make one thing clear.
"the lethal blow was administred by the lamp, the lamp is what had the defendants palm print on it."

Gibbons says Jones was always the primary suspect. But, the police department had to wait on FBI crime scene tests, which didn`t come back until March 22nd.

Nona`s mother Carol Dipert and stepfather Dan Dipert did not express anger towards Jones today, but they said they do want results.

"I feel sad for him, I`m sure it`s a traumatic thing for the family, but you can`t just kill somebody and key... he`s gonna have to pay for the crime."

According to an affadavit, police say they believe Jones was trying to cover his tracks.

First, they say he left a condom wrapper near Dirksmeyer`s body to make the motive appear to be a rape.

Second, Jones handled Dirksmeyer`s body when he found her; they believe was this was done to account for any fingerprints that turned up later.

Jones`s bond hearing will be scheduled for some time early next week.


We (we, the community) have been waiting and waiting and waiting for someone to be arrested or at least be told who the suspects were, and all the law enforcement and legal-eagles were tight-lipped about the whole business. All this time the dude has been walking the streets, which is unnerving, since our town isn't that big. Finally, today, he's off the streets.

I really wish I lived in an area where murders were rare. There's a homocide every other day in my home town.
