Anyways, I've been browsing the net and vacation magazines looking for some interesting spots for our honeymoon trip. The thing is that neither Jess or myself really care to spend the time on some beach in Mexico, Cuba, etc. Baking in the sun is just not something thrilling.

[think up bed and sex suggestions here, chuckle, move along]

Now, I know some of you have been to Europe or ARE in Europe, and have also visited other parts of the world, so perhaps you will be able to point me to the right locations. What are some fascinating places to visit, both for sight-seeing and relaxation? Right now we're tipping more toward a trip all over Europe to see Rome, Paris, etc.

If we do go on trip, it will be in early june, but of course nothing is certain with our child underway. Perhaps we will later, but I don't know how willing either of us will be leave the child for a week. Perhaps with ze parents.

Either way, throw me some suggestions, let out the typical fap fap fap jokes, etc.

Normandy. It's gorgeous, it's atucally a very interesting place, especially given WWII, the people tend to be nice, and it'll be a nice break from all of the cities like Rome, Paris, etc... No matter how amazing a place is, if you only see cities, they'll all start to run together.

Also in France, the Loire Valley, which has castles like we have school districts - it's crazy, beautiful and the castles are all so different and presented so differently, they don't run together at all. Chambord is the most amazing on the outside, but you can't go in. I can't remember the names of the ones we could go inside

Another amazing place, my personal favorite in France that I saw was Annecy. It's right on the border of Geneva, Switzerland, so you can just drive right in there and it's also near the Mont Blanc, which you can take a trip (in a gondola) up to the top and even crpss over to the Italian side.

And I've never been here, but my friend, who had family here, loves Heidelburg (sp?) Germany. According to everyone I know, it's amazingly beautiful, etc... and I know that I seriously want to see it.

Switzerland is a really nice, friendly place to visit. All the mountains and landscapes are really awesome and peaceful.

Rome was such a hassle to drive in. Remember to get a GPS navigational system in your rental car (if you are going to drive) otherwise you can get lost fast.

Just visit southern europe, chill for a week in spain, italy or greece. I would really wnt to go to spain, since i speak spanish. oh man.... i really want to go to a nice beach, it has been raining for like a month straright here. OMG, we have had the wetest march in like the history of cali.

Schottland is very relaxing. Really nice countryside. Just drive around a bit and try to find some nice small Highland Games.

Or the Netherlands. Great for camping, sailing and fishing.

Unfortunately, the only places in Europe I've been in are Ireland and England, and while they're certainly cool places, I have my doubts they're ideal honeymoon locales. Well... at least England. Sorry Brits. If it's any consolation, Maryland doesn't seem like the happening place for honeymoons either, though I certainly like living here.

My vote would go for Switzerland, if you're looking to Europe. The snow and skiing and whatnot seems nice, and my mother and step-father had their honeymoon there, and they seemed to like it... *shrug*.

Whatever you do, don't come here and try to see all of Europe in 10 days or so, like so many Americans do.... it's just impossible. You simply haven't seen anything of Europe when you only visit a few capitals. So, better settle with a single destination, especially if you want to relax a bit too.

Well, not Finland.

I'd go to some cheese or wine place in Southern France though.

If all goes well, the honeymoon trip will fall in with our typical summer vacations, so we'll probably be spending a month out there.
