Descent (All)

DooM (all) Use ZDoom for single player ( www.zdoom.org ) and ZDaemon for multi ( www.zdaemon.org )

X-Wing Alliance (Very touching SP, good MP for roleplaying if you're RPing in another game as well, such as JK)

Star Crusader, at your local pawn shop for 8$ XD

I can prolly think of more, but not at the moment- Oh!

Really hard to find, but the PC version of mega man X is nice. Comes with a game pad and everything.

Run JK and XWA at the same time. Not many comps can handle it, but it's good for Roleplays based in space stations and what not, and the characters need to go out into space and shoot at something >_>

I have the XWing series (XW/TF/XWvsTF/XWA) and Descent III..haven't heard of Star Crusader..

Edit: I can't say that I've tried roleplaying in an action game before..

http://www.doomsdayhq.com is better -- download KickStart. They also have OpenGL mods for DooM, DooM II, Final Doom, Heretic, and Hexen, turning the sprites into 3D models.

Master of Magic is possibly the best computer game ever created. Problem is getting it to run under windows, and even if you can, getting sound is really hard. I've had it working with SB Live but it was hard.

Heavy Metal FAKK2 was really good.

Heretic II was great.
