I beat it!

I finally beat the damn thing. I beat JK! W00000000000000000000000T!

That was one HELLUVA GAME. I loved it. Jerec was a ***** to beat though...rest of the game was fun! Level 9 FTW!

So, tell what you liked about JK, and what difficulty levels you've beat it on/other feats. I just beat it on medium.
I had a blog. It sucked.

I've beaten it several times over on all difficulties. I loved it. If you haven't yet, go download Imperial Siege on Derra IV from Massassi. It's the best third party single player level made for that game. :D
DO NOT WANT.

I used to go through with cheats on, and couldn't beat half the levels.

I haven't done that in 2 years atleast, so most of the levels were completely new to me (I never even made it to Baron's Hed last time I really TRIED to play through).

And I am SO pumped for MotS. I'm gonna install it and start it, after I try this Imperial Siege on Derra IV

I've beaten both JK and MotS several times on medium. I never really thought to try hard :P I've never tried easy, either, actually. I guess it's because you have to create a new profile to change the difficulty setting.

What changes with the difficulty levels?

I'm currently playing JK SP and MOTS SP with SBX on Medium difficulty, and it'll be the first time I'll complete the games without skipping levels.

I don't beat many games (I get about 3/4 through and usually end up leaving it for something else, bad habit) so yeah, it did. XIII, Black, JK, Max Payne, DooM 1 all episodes, Soldier of Fortune, only games to come to mind that I've beaten. I'm on the last level of Psychonauts, but I haven't played it in...4 months, so I'll suck if I go back and try to beat the boss.

It felt ESPECIALLY good to beat XIII and JK. I'd spent about a year playing XIII on and off until I finally, one night with my friend over, started it and played straight through to the end of the game, and that was HELLA FUN. And JK I've had for 5 years, so since the best I've EVER done is Baron's Hed, it felt very good.

You played XIII for a YEAR on and off??? Aghhh.

fewer powerups, as well.

That snow prison level got to be a *****. But I did beat it.

I'm actually just beat that level last night (for the second time, I decided to replay the campaign).

It's a very good game. Right now I'm replaying that and Far Cry at the same time... Good stuff.
2006-04-16, 2:56 PM #14
Yeah, it is. Too bad the ditched the sequel.

2006-04-16, 2:57 PM #15
Agreed. It really does need a sequel, what with the to be continued thing.

I'm in that damn snow prison level as well on my realistic playthrough. Damn that level is hard, but after that the game is a breeze.

I didn't even know there were plans for a sequel.

I was mad that Far Cry Instincts was XBOX only -_-, however.
2006-04-16, 3:07 PM #17
as was I. Apparently there's a sequel coming to PC though.

Far Cry Instincts was incredibly fun. Wow, I loved it so much. And Far Cry Instncts Predator just came out, which has new weapons, vehicles, and a whole new campaign. And since the SP levels are all that matter to me, it's just fine. :)
DO NOT WANT.

I beat FF7 a few weeks ago. Hoorah for me!

And I got all the secret materias (four caves) and bred my own gold chocobo. :D
Very funny Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.
2006-04-16, 4:30 PM #21
Heh, The Falling Ship is challenging at Hard. There you have to use the secret and even then you have to be fast.

I played through the game on Light Side and Dark Side, but nowadays I never manage to finish it on the Light Side. >:->
Sorry for the lousy German

I beat both JK and MotS many times on hard. They're my all-time favourite games. However, I always get stuck in JK level 19, and so I usually skip the latter half of that level.

But last time I tried the level, I accidentally found my way, and discovered that my favourite Dark Forces level was actually a JK level. :o Amazing, lol. Finished JK so many times, but I hadn't seen the latter half of level 19 in such a long time, that I somehow remembered it as being a Dark Forces level...

And so I've been looking through the Dark Forces levels, searching for that awesome one where you have to bridge a gap by jumping onto a huge rotating payload, while stormies are shooting at you from 2 sides... oh man. Glad I found it though.

MotS is awesome too! You're going to love it.

By the way did you finish JK light or dark side? (You'll get different cutscenes for both)

yeah... the graphics engine demo videos are amazing... no doubt no one will be able to run it and such :/

Without cheats, I never beat JK or MotS on hard or medium (play easy? PFFT NO), and yet the SP in both titles had such impressive atmosphere and feeling to them. They felt like Star Wars games should feel, unlike JO and JA (and that's another thread... :) ). For JK, I don't remember getting past any of the dark jedi past Yun without cheats. For MotS, there was something I couldn't figure out in the Sith temple, which was pretty cool and creepy. I should play them again, but can JK/MotS run on WinXP?

Play MotS and love it. It's shorter than JK but definitely different for the better: upgraded lighting, more exotic locations, new enemies, and interesting mini-plots. Supposedly, a mod team is recreating MotS for JA, now along side the DF and JK mods. I expect all of them to fail. The community isn't there to provide enough skilled people to make it happen. The DF mod is struggling, although it has a ton more to show for itself.

And maybe when you are done, you will see how crappy JO and JA are. The sequels are good games when looked at independently but didn't bring the quality of JK/MotS.

HL2 is far from the worst game ever and has far from the worst ending ever. The ending disappointed me, but the game was really amazing. Not the best ever, but far, far from the worst.
2006-04-16, 7:49 PM #31
First time through JK I beat it with just a keyboard (didn't know how to work the mouse/keyboard combo). I didn't enjoy MotS that much. The multiplayer was alright, though.

JK rocks, I wish they would come out with games nowadays that are as inspired. The last one I really, really liked was Call of Duty 1. There are some games that really stand out as awesome FPS:

Doom
Dark Forces
Jedi Knight
Soldier of Fortune
Call of Duty
Serious Sam
Metroid Prime

Yeah, that's about it. Then there are some that were pretty fun but not completey awesome, like:

Quake 1/2/3/4
Doom 2
Serious Sam 2nd Encounter
Unreal Tournament 1/2k3
MotS
Outcast/Academy

I remember beating TNT Evilution (No way in hell I'll get through plutonia... ugh). That was a fun DooM campaign.

I played it on darkside, but I've seen both endings (cheats, again). And I'm starting MotS tomorrow, I have a friend sleeping in on our couch, and I've been playing a bit of Kingdom Hearts 2 (He brought it).

And Glyde, I'm never going to be able to beat Plutonia or Evilution. Those things are just...holy stuff!
I had a blog. It sucked.

I'm playing DDR Extreme 2 and Guitar Hero. I debated over whether or not to purchase Karaoke Revolution but my singing voice tends to summon forth dimensional portals to hell dimensions. :(

I've only been playing DDR for a little over a week. I wish there were difficulty settings between Light and Standard; light's way too easy for me, but I'm not skilled enough for most standard songs yet. I can do 6-foot standard songs but some of them go as high as 8. ;_;

I found the SP campaign faaaar easier with lightside powers - the dark powers weren't destructive enoug for the mana they used up: the only one that was in way shape or form useful was choke for me.

At least if you got into trouble you could go find a nice corner and use heal, hang around for a bit and top up again if you needed to! Also persuasion was a Godsend. :D

Ah, JK, game I used to beat in 2 days, and last time I completely beat it in spring 2004, it only took me few hours. I'll play through it next time when some kind of high res package is released.

Even though I think I like DF a bit more.
