And I videotaped it! As seen here . Yeah, that was really fun. Post pyro stories or burn!

Little sidenote, this wasnt my idea. But I had no objections to videotaping + using the lighter. >.>

I once videotaped a guy at a party lighting his leg on fire.

He then proceeded to try to burn down my friend's barn, and was subsequently kicked off the property. Ah yeah, that was a fun night.

I remember in middle school everyone used to carry around little spray bottles of breath spray, which they would spray on their hands and light on fire. Surprisingly, nobody was ever (seriously) hurt. Unlike the time a guy had his head slammed into a locker door, and proceded to lose conciousness for a good five minutes. In all fairness, though, he's usually an ******, and probably deserved it.

I should have mentioned the burning method. We wrapped his hands in paper towel, and soaked that in gasoline. It worked pretty well. We tried using more papertowel but soaked in WD-40 also. It burned better, but the paper fell off of his hands.

I read this thread title as "I hit a man on fire" i assumed it was with a car.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Wow...

your explanation of how you did that makes it seem like an even worse idea.

Do you realize how quickly that paper could have gone up?

Gasoline/oil mixture. Burns rather slowly. Bucket for quenching. I should clarify my relationship with this friend. I like him because he does stupid funny stuff. I wholeheartedly support this. (we were at least smart enough to testburn the gas/paper first. Its a slow burn.

I used to use spray paint and make flamethrowers. The paint sprayed at just the right speed so it never backed into the can, but the flame stayed in the spray. After we had fun in that area for a while, we began wandering elsewhere, and when my buddy turned back to get more matches, he noticed the yard was on fire :(

we got it out ourselves, although the hose barely reached. we threw some broken glass from a fishtank up there and blamed that.

Actually, though I haven't viewed the video, I'm sure it was brilliant.

If you think I did that to be "COOL" your horribly off. I find fire to be a fun part of this earth. My friend thought itd be fun to have his hands on fire. I agreed, and helped him to accomplish this goal. And yes, I am 15. 16 in a few months, but what does age have to do with it? Absolutely nothing, thats what. Lay off with the stupidity comments, fire is just fun. If someone rides there bike down a road, they take a risk. A larger risk than this, because this was a controlled situation, not reliant on the random factor of other peoples decisions. So yeah, retort over.

I see nothing stupid about having some fun. Maybe you should, youknow, think before you base the entirety of someones life upon their age? I'm not going to fight over it, I dont know your age, but I'm assuming its some number more then 15, causing you to beleive you are the most powerful being to walk this earth. Enjoy your powertrip over nothing.

Am I the only one who finds the concept of lighting someone on fire kind of funny? There are some relatively safe (by comparison) ways to do it. Zippo fluid is one of them. I don't know what you used since I can't watch the video because myspace video is worthless, but I think the general idea is pretty funny.

As long as no one got hurt, who cares?

A year or five ago two friends and me would do all kind of crazy stuff and put it on tape.

At one time one of the two put himself on fire several times. Even more recklessly even, perhaps. It started with just pouring gasoline over his shoes (while wearing them), putting them on fire then run until the wind distinguished them.
Later he got the great idea of pouring gasoline over his (naked) chest and lighting that. Looked pretty cool, but not so surprisingly it caused some burns (mild first degree burns, like when you get if you spend too much time in the sun. It was pretty much healed the other day)

I'll ask my friend if he still has the recording.

People who don't watch it.. we had a bucket of water RIGHT AT HIS FEET. He let the paper towel burn a bit for effect, then when it got warm, he put his hands in the bucket. Didn't even lose any hair on his hands/arms. For some reason people think fire is the most dangerous thing a person could play with. It can hurt, yes. But it'd take a pretty dumb person to burn themselves badly with a bucket of water at their feet.

Yea, like accidents never happen.

I suppose it's just natural selection though.
2006-04-18, 12:14 PM #27
There was absolutely no chance of him dying or being significantly injured. I suppose he could have had minor burns on his hands/arms, but that wasnt even the case. But I'm tired of justifying fun to people who are muchos afraid of death/injury.

And that's why you're not very bright. Any professional would tell you otherwise. A bucket of water was your only safety measure, but hey that's your call I guess.

Looking back it wasnt youknow, the smartest thing in the world. But it was funny, and all was well. Time to get on with life. Its not like we didnt testburn the papertowel with the gasoline used, and try using water to douse it. In the event the bucket got knocked over, we had more just behind the camera. But I suppose anything other than 100% safety is too much risk.

That's not really the case. It's more about knowing what you're dealing with. Like knowing that water isn't really the best way to put out a gasoline fuled fire. Like knowing that a bucket of water isn't the best way to to put out clothes should they be become engulfed. I'm all for having fun, and as Bill said, there are safer ways to light someone on fire. You just didn't happen to do it. Don't get all pissy because you got called out for being stupid.
