using different languages in AIM

How do you do this? For instance, whenever I type in chinese or japanese in AIM, it either comes out as gibberish, or as question marks (????)

Do I need to install separate language packs for aim or something?

probably AIM doesnt have the encoding in it for displaying those characters. (esp. if it is coming out as gibberish as opposed to question marks)

I reckon AIM does not have UTF-8 encoding. I reckon people use the simplified version that uses phonetics.

Can you see the japanese characters in alpha's post? If not, you probably need to get a japanese language pack or something.

Someone smeared a fly on SavageX's post.

My firefox (or maybe just my main fonts) doesn't have foreign characters.

Well, why would you use another language when everyone speaks English? It's not like there's anywhere else on this world other than North America...

Going to the moon someday would be cool, if there really WAS a moon, but we all know that's a lie too.
I had a blog. It sucked.

"Other" languages are lies spread by ungood thought criminals.

"Language" will be phased out in the next version of Newspeak. There will be no Speak but Newspeak.

Yes I have asian language packs installed and I can type in chinese or japanese nearly everywhere except aim

alpha: "if I could read this without a translator it would be" .. cool? I'm guessing you meant/used babelfish or something haha?
