Revolution 'Remote' + Twilight Princess == Win!

http://revolution.ign.com/articles/696/696091p1.html

This has to be why Twilight Princess was delayed from Spring 06 to Fall 06. Well, that and to give it that Nintendo-delay-esque polish most of us have come to expect. (It wasn't a shock to me when I finally read about it)

I think they might be going for a simultaneous debut of both, which would definitely sway people to get the Revolution, yet not leave GameCube-ers in the dust. (In case you don't know, the Revolution will be able to play GameCube games, among other things)

This totally changes my plans for Twilight Princess. I wanted it asap, but if the Rev. isn't too far beyond TP's (horrible acronym :p) release, I just might hold out and get both at the same time.

Discuss! Drool! Ignore? :(

This news is so freaking old, but it's still awesome.

Yeah, OLD.

Still, it's been delayed so much now I'm not even hyped for it. However, once we get more realistic information that its going to be released soon - I know I'll be hyped again

um....all I can say is:
Code:
int x;
x = (Revolution 'remote' + Twilight Princess == Win!);

printf("%d", x);

output:
0

I have little to no faith in the revolution's controller. It looks this the most useless controller I have ever seen.

I know I will need to play with it to make a final judgement but I don't see how it can be used to play any game that has remotely traditional gameplay. The only thing I see it good for is weird Mario Party type game with odd gameplay.

oh and the == made me do the code

You think that a motion sensitive controller is useless? Have you not seen the videos of sword fighting, and the potential for FPS's with actual skill involved. What exactly is "useless" about that. It sure beats the regular controllers - I think we've just about seen it all with them.

It seems to me if you pit two FPS players of relatively equal skill in a DM, the mouse user would win every time. It's a lot faster to flick your wrist than it is to move your whole arm.

like I said it only looks good for non-traditonal game play. (I knew it would be a pointer but I didn't know about the motion sensor.) so it sound a "little" better. but it looks worthless as a traditional button pressing controller.

At least I wasn't timelined. :p

Freelancer, you don't have to move your whole arm, just adjust the angle of the Remote a bit. Those that tested it at first were using too much motion, and once they got used to it, little effort was needed to manipulate the game with it.

Numenor King, there is a 64/GC-esque joystick 'extension' for the remote, not to mention the 4 GC controller hookups with mem card slots. But 'traditional button pressing controller' is what Nintendo is NOT striving for. With the stick hookup, and others planned, I can't see how this could go wrong at all. Seriously.

I spent all last night catching up on all the lovely videos available from IGN. And from what I've gathered, they're pegging Twilight Princess to outdo OOT, in number of dungeons + world expansiveness. Add Revolution functionality, and, uh, I'm beating the same bush again. :p

They said it can be done like this. Not sure if this just concept art or what

[http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/3237/47328523164493741ej.jpg]

Meaning you can use it for all new types of games, yet put it in a WaveBird type shell and play normal ports using regular controls.

*This info when first came out, unsure of updates to it*

Still, it's so versatile and they say that adding parts to the controller is real cheap.

The possibilities are endless

yeah the revolution is the only next gen i'm looking forward to...

what attractions do the other two have apart from better graphics and a closer resemblance to a PC?

the revolution will make gameplay have a different funk.

IGN made that picture. It's totally fake. They used it to describe what the shell COULD look like.

if the concept exists and people like it, then the product will probablys exist in the end... stop whining and just buzz, ITS A CONSOLE THATS INTERESTING.

Yeah, the right analogue stick is pretty good evidence. With that setup, the ball in the base of the analogue stick would be inside the Rev controller.

Still, it gives you a good idea of what to expect in controller accessories. I'm going to need one of those for the new SSB.

Yeah, that's fine, it was mainly just to counter Numenor King in his argument. Here's hoping Nintendo executes right

Yes, the addition is called the "Num-chuck" or "Nun-chuck" controller.

This will be useful for FPS's.

I personally love the idea for things like FPS games, however it's going to suck for people with very little hand-eye coordination.
nope.
2006-04-27, 12:59 PM #25
Frankly, Bacon, if they have bad hand-eye coordination i'm pretty sure their general video game-playing ability is going to be rather poor, this really won't change that a whole lot.

Well the buttons are in a fixed spot and you don't move your hands around the controller much, so I don't think it would matter much.

My hand-eye is atrocious and I'm fairly good at most games.
nope.
