Ok I've completed the main quest already, but for some reason my character does not level up at all. I've got quite a few hours of gameplay in and I'm only a level 2. This bugs me for obvious reasons. The game is beginning to get boring, and so are the same damn weapons, armor, and monsters.

This is starting to feel like playing SWG.

Did you read the manual? You have to sleep in a bed to level up.

If you have multiple levels waiting, keep sleeping in bed over and over. :p

You can turn it off, too.

Yes, and you have to increase your primary skills to level up. So if you're an assassin walking around in iron armor with a battle axe, you're not going to level up much.

Stupid.

On the other hand, like me, if you're a knight who's sneaking around in light armor and a katana, you still get to level up all the time. :D :D :D

Yeah it was really strange.... I hadn't leveled up in a really really long time.... but for some reason it happened all the sudden. It must have been a bug or something. I had to go to sleep like 4 consecutive times before it awarded me with my level.

You have to sleep once for each level. So if you increase your main skills a total of 30 times in one sitting, you'll have to sleep three times to catch up.
Moo.

Does that mean after finishing the main quest you had only reached level 6?
2006-04-30, 5:58 PM #10
Actually... yes. I blew through it rather quickly without doing much else at all.

That's like missing half the fun there is to an Elder Scrolls game. o.o
Seishun da!

Why? You can still do everything else once you've finished with the main quest, can't you?

I, on the other hand, clocked up about 36 hours of playing before I even went to Kvatch :D

Free, you're missing my point. I did go to sleep in the game. It didn't level me up. I had to do it like 4 times before it gave me the first level.

Maybe you were waiting instead of sleeping.

Maybe you were sleepwalking... O_o

Can't wait to buy Oblivion. Right after I get my new comp, next weekend.

You have to SLEEP, in a BED. Just waiting will not do the trick.

Instead of trying to hammer in the same idea with each post, maybe think that he was trying to say he slept in a bed several times before it levelled him up? Just an idea. I'm sure there are plenty of glitches I've yet to run across in Oblivion (like that hopping cell one Jon`C was talking about one time).

The hoping cell bug is caused by editing the uPathGridsLoad in the .ini file above the default setting (5). My system can handle 7 without problem.s

Does nayone else have problems losing goblins? I was jumped by a group of them near Cheydinhal and they followed me all the way to Chorrol. I had to wait like an hour for the jerks to show up. :\

Wow. One person at Massassi knows how to read. This is remarkable.

NO!!!! HE NEEDS TO SLEEP IN A BED, DURRRRRRRR.

:p

I dunno if this has been mentioned, but just waiting doesn't work. You actually have to find a bed and sleep in it.

Hope that helps! :)

The problem is, you're just waiting, you have to actually sleep in a bed.
