I saw United 93 yesterday. Here's what I think about it.

The thing I like most about it is it is as accurate as possible without embellishing anything. Obviously we don't know everything that went on on that flight, but I walked away from the movie without any doubt that those events could have happened (and probably did).

It is a very difficult movie to watch, particularly toward the end. The end of the movie is simply gut-wrenching. I can't remember a movie that was so intense, although the way they handled it was very respectful to the victims.

I recommend everyone watch this just so they might get an idea of what it would be like to actually be there. I think too many of us refuse to acknowledge what it was like, even though they know the facts. But again, it is very difficult to watch (at least for me), so I certainly advise if you don't think you can handle it, don't go.

It's rated R but it's definitely PG-13 technically. There's some violence but not that much, and a little (maybe more than a little swearing). I think the only reason it's R is because of the subject matter.

I don't know, it might be too soon of a movie for some people. I mean it took 29 years for Tora! Tora! Tora! to come out.

Yeah that's totally different. There are also Iraq movies out and a TV show I believe. However Peral Harbor wasn't touched upon. War is different then having ur homefront being attack and innocent lives dying. More people were emotinally effected by Pearl Harbor than WWII. Like 9/11, it caused us to discriminate against a race of people, come together as a nation, and go to war to avenge the deaths of the people. That's different.

Do they show the plane getting shot down?

From what I hear it just ends with them trying to take back the plane (haven't seen it yet.) But I imagine they don't even show the plane go down, nor try to endorse a conspiracy theory.

No. The way they handled the plane going down was very tasteful and very sad at the same time - but they don't show it exploding, nor do they show any external shots of the plane once it's taken off.

Oh, and - shot down? Of course not. The plane went down [in the movie - and I assume in real life] because the brave people aboard couldn't quite wrestle the controls away from the terrorists in time.

In the movie, once the terrorist pilot realizes the passengers will overpower him before he can reach the White House, he sends the plane into an unrecoverable spinning dive.

On another matter, there's a new miniseries coming out (on ABC I believe) about a doomsday scenario of an avian flu breakout in the United States.

There were movies of Battle of the Somme while the war was still happening, and I'm fairly sure that that's worse considering 70000 british men died that day.
nope.

I will see it if I can get some amigos to go with me. I think they're pretty open-minded, and probably emotionally capable, so we'll see.
