On the lowest setting of the iron. No steam (obviously).
Very low heat.

Laying ironable fabric (doubled up, at least, if it's too hot more laeyers) on top of the silk will work also, such as a sheet.

yeah, it's also best to keep it in one spot for about 1-5 minutes before moving it to a new spot.

Given that most university/college students do their own washing and ironing, I fail to see the problem with asking us.

All the irons that i've used have had a silk setting.
