I've built computers, but never one with SATA so I have a few questions I hope you guys can answer for me.
Alright, so I'm looking at this mobo: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813131569
Under the specifications, it says:
SATA 1.5 Gb/s 4
SATA RAID NV RAID 0/1/0+1 JBOD
which I just interpret as "yes, this mobo is compatible with SATA drives". not sure what the raid numbers mean though (i think 0 means something, and 1 means mirroring? but what does that mean for me?). also, does the 4 mean that i can have up to 4 sata hd's?
So now I go look for a nice SATA drive, and I find one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822135106
Under the specifications, it says SATA 3.0 Gb/s. This is, I believe, called SATA-II(?). I want to know if this is backwards compatible with the SATA interface on the mobo.
Secondly, are the installation steps of a SATA HD pretty much the same as the installation steps of an IDE HD, except for the different cables and inputs you use? In other words, I won't have to install drivers for an SATA drive using a floppy?
