What ever happened to Mechwarrior 5? Where is Heavy Gear 3? Why was there never an Iron Assault 2? Why? Two (no, more, much more than two) E3's in a row - no giant robot game. I ask again: WHY?

Well, at least I doubt the MW franchise'll die anytime soon. mechwarrior.com redirects to SHADOWRUN, though. Oh well.

MW5 is a lost hope, microsoft has gone to MechAssault for its Battletech needs, as crappy and universe-killing as it is

LOL, I remember doing something like that in MW2. Fire all 8 lasers and BAM - instant shutdown :p

Bought a copy of MW3: Pirates Moon the other month, actually no... sometime last year... need to pick up a copy of MW3 sometime so I can play the thing though.

There's a very very good reason. Most gigantic robot games suck. MW is the exception.

I have Midget Wars 11 sitting right here in my awesome supar collector's edition platinum uranium pack!!1

The level where you get to throw axes at peoples faces is cool. I always die though. There's a FRAPS capture I put up in the showcase somewhere.. :em321:

I'm playing through MW4 right now. I've got both the Black Knight and Mercenaries expansions, but I'v never gotten to them. Right now I'm standing too close to Mechs while blowing them up with Autocannons...

Pssssh, I made a robot that did this tribal dance in the shrublands of Africa and then farted carbon monoxide which poisoned an entire village in the country of Djibouti

Try 6 ER PPCs. With enough heat sinks you get about one shot from base heat. Good thing is, that one shot is almost enough to kill a healthy mech.

If I recall correctly 6 was enough for a meltdown, not shutdown. I would always use 4 at a time, aim for the leg. *FFSHEEWWWW!!!* *shuts down* ARGH! COOLENT!

In MW2 I knew how to do negative infinity heatsinks :em321:

of course, just standing still was enough to cause meltdown, and if you didn't type in god mode you would explode after a few seconds :p

I feel all silly for never playing those Mech series. Any advice on which to begin with?

I made a Firemoth in MW2 once that I got to I think the 2nd last regular Falcon mission, and the 3rd of the 4 Wolf trials playing on hard with no lance-mates.

The screenshot is after it got hammered on.. I think that's a wolf mission. I had a better screenshot of it limping along at 30km/h with everything on red after another Wolf mission, but I lost that...

If you're running XP, unfortunately you can't play MW2 :gbk:

You can play MW2 on XP, but only with the DOS version, and only with a bit of a fight.

I used a slightly different way to what these guys have done when I took the screenshot above in win2k, but it will certainly run. Unfortunately that being said when I upgraded my video card I started getting a lot of problems I think to do with VESA incompatibility, so I've got a mammoth VESA card I'm going to put in my computer sometime.

Well, I was using some Siege Mech with a crap load of heat sinks. And they were ER PPCs, not just the normal kind. Still, it was a lot of heat.
