My dad just bought me a cell phone when I started driving just so they can contact me and stuff or I can contact them in emergencies. That was his excuse, anyway, though I know he was expecting me to go all social and be talking to friends on it all the time like my brother did when he first got a cell phone. My dad about fell over when I told him nobody even knows my number except him and my brother [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

I got a cell phone, but I somehow misplaced it.

No worries, I cancelled it and got a new one. Then I found the old one. Then I lost both.

So I got another one, and I ultimately, yes, lost that, too.

Depressing, no?

I love my mobile phone. It's not like I rely on it, it's just there make my life a little bit easier.

You really dont realise how much you'll use a mobile until you get one. Sometimes it's a godsend. Even the crappy little camera is nice to have around sometimes.

Anyways, my swanky new mobile I got for free last Wednesday:

Remember when those things used to be the size of a half brick? I'm amazed at how small those things have become after recalling how big they used to be but just a few years ago.

I've had a cell since my sophomore year of college, so that's about three years now. Got it when I moved into the house I live in so I don't have to deal with a land line everytime I move rooms, which is at least once a year

Over here in Norway, 90% of all the people over 5 years of age get a new cellphone every year. It's not far from the truth, either.

I just read in Technology Review that the record for most cell phones per person goes to Luxembourg and Taiwan which are tied at 106 cell phones per 100 people. That is really hard to imagine for someone like me who doesn't even have one.

I've had one since I started driving, the classic reasons, and I don't really use it much, though I think I'd miss it. It's just become habit to stick it in my pocket before breakfast and not take it out till I go to bed.

DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT RING TONES UNTIL YOU SELL MOBILES!

I had to put up with annoying little teenage *******s coming in and going through every ring tone each phone had for 6 months until I got a new job.

I have an older style motorola and I'm getting a new phone this week. Probably Motorola or Sanyo seeing as those are the best phones out right now. Might stoop to get an LG because of the nice prices.

I now work at a coffee shop and things are much more chill, but there's still teenage *******s. I hate the kids that live around here.

When my Nokia 3210 wears out at last, I want a phone with MP3 ringtone capabilities. Then I will record a guy (or woman, I have yet to decide) screaming "HELP, HELP, LET ME OUT, AAARGH!!" and have the phone on maximum volume. That ought to provoke some of the old people on the bus..

Speaking of ringtones, I've used the basic "low" ringtone on my 6100 for ages now. It sounds almost exactly like some old (I'm talking several decades) phones did.

My cellphone's ringtone is the alien communication thing from Close Encounters, but I have it on vibrate when I'm in public. My employer is kind enough to supply all of the engineering types with 2-way pagers.

My old phone used to play Clocks which sounded really cool and looped perfectly, but the new phone only has polyphonic ringtones which annoy the hell out of me (and make good songs sound like ****). Now it's on vibrate 24/7 for calls, and a an amusingly confusing doorbell sound for SMS.
