The coolest car...
2006-05-23, 6:02 AM #1
What's the coolest car you've ever seen on the road? Not on TV or at a motor show or in a magazine or on a race track or anything, actually driving down or parked along a public road.

Post a picture, too!

Mine:

Ferrari F40. A true supercar. Spotted it pulling out from a side street while driving home from work a few days ago. Demanded my friend throw an illegal u-turn to go back for another look but he wouldnt :(

I saw I car outfitted for the world cup.
It had grass all over it and a football (soccer for you Burgerboys) field painted on the grass.
I should take a picture of it, when I see it again.
Sorry for the lousy German

The coolest cars you see around here are restored classic cars that I have no idea what they are but they're damn beautiful.

The only cool modern car I've seen around here is a Highway Patrol Corvette.

Mazda RX-8. It was very fast. I'll try to find a pic.
Also, a guy at my work has an Eagle Talon. I think it's cool.

Heres the RX-8:

RX-8? My roommate has one. They're not really that fast relative to most sports cars. They do handle well though.
2006-05-23, 12:14 PM #21
Yeah, I pity you if the coolest car you've ever seen on the road is an RX-8.

Coolest I've seen driving around was a 1965 Shelby Cobra.
The coolest one I've driven was a 2000 BMW Z3 M Roadster.

Well, it looked neat, anyway! Tiburons are nice, too. And I saw a corvette yesterday, does that count?

Mustang too.

Bah!

pfft mustangs are a dime a dozen.

I saw a BMW 8 series on the freeway a few months ago (cant remember which one specifically).. Not really *that* special, but I like BMW's, and the 8 series was discontinued in '99 so it was a treat for me.

Would have looked something like this:

My next door neighbor pulled up in a Ferrari 360 Spyder. That kid was a complete ***, and seeing that killed the car, and nearly the company for me.

There's a Ferrari dealership up the street from the school, but I'd have to go with one of the new Corvette Z06's I saw driving by a few weeks ago.

I love Lotus, and I'd love to get an older Esprit when I get a little older and more well-off. I've also seen a few Porsche 911s, but for some reason I'll always like the 944 the most.

I'm hoping to get a Mustang soon, and though I agree they're "a dime a dozen" (a big reason I never liked them before), and certainly nothing compared to genuine sports cars, I love the new gen with all my heart.

BHP is amazing for a 1.3.

Yay for the Wankle [hehe] rotary engine!
nope.

In terms of "every day" sports cars of the recent past I'd go with the F-body or the Mitsubishi 3000GT/Dodge Stealth.

You cant compare the size of a rotary to a piston engine, they're far too different.

But I agree RX-8s rule - Suicide doors!

It has cameras and a display in the dash so you dont need side or rear-view mirrors. Seriously.

The headlights are really thin and are mounted above the grille below the bonnet.

I was under the assumption that all vehicles driven on the road (in the US) were required to have side mirrors.

And people in Hollywood see "supercars" all the time...and you probably see the castrated n/a version much more often. :p

A SW20 MR2 Turbo is, IMHO, an affordable near-supercar. Incredible handling capability, plenty of power and Toyota reliability. What more to ask? :)
