Interesting...so probably 250 in the states.

I may be wrong, but didn't Nintendo also release both the Nintendo64 and the Nintendo Game Cube for 25,000 yen in Japan, and for 199 in the US, which may lead to a similar price point for the Wii. But still, 250 will mean a purchase for me!

http://news.com.com/Nintendo+prices+Wii+at+250+for+U.S.+market/2100-1043_3-6076813.html?tag=nefd.top

That article confirms that they also said the price won't pass 250 in the US as well.

25,000 yen = $222?!?

Whoa!

What's going on in Japan? Is their economy failing? Did their stock market crash? I bet they're walking the streets with their pockets turned out, waiting in line for free soup.

Yay America.

Are you serious?

You do realize it's the American economy that's in trouble, right?

I'm sorry, the U.S.'s debt is somewhere below 9 trillion dollars while the GDP of 2005 was above 12 trillion. That's quite a bit better than Japan, who happens to be one of the strongest industrial nations, and puts the U.S. on par economy-wise with a few western-european nations. Yeah, the U.S. economy isn't the shining example is was a few years ago, but it's not exactly in trouble.

Well, the Yen is actually worth less compared to the USD than it was 5 years ago. (Back in 2001 a Gamecube was 25,000 yen, which equated to $231 USD then.)

It's just like if we accepted the penny as the standard of currency.... all the numbers would be big but it'd still be worth the same ammount.
