Depends how much financial aid you qualify for .. Harvard (and now Yale, Penn, etc. are following suit) recently made it so any family with less than $50,000 annual income gets their tuition paid in full as a grant .. which is basically a free ride

School with billion+ dollar endowments can do thatm but not all school can. Also, not all financial aid is free. Some aid is deferred loans that you don't have to pay back until you graduate and star working. Or it will be work study, where they give you job at the school to defer your costs.
