Bah. My left ear has been killing me for the past week. I can't hear anything from it, and because of that I feel very lopsided. :/

Any personal remedies? I'm out of rubbing alcohol, and would like to avoid a trip to the doctor if possible.

Any other partially deaf people out there? -_-

Antibiotics would be my best suggestion. Good luck finding any without seeing a doctor..

You could try sleeping with that ear down and with your head lower than the rest of your body. That way if it's fluid that's below your eardrum it will bypass and end up on your pillow. So you might want to put a rag under your head to be safe.

I had so many ear infections when I was younger that I lost feeling in my ear. Then, when I'd get them, I wouldn't notice, until the ear drum ruptured (which happened a half-dozen times at least). I would strongly suggest going to the doctor right away so you don't end up with permanent nerve damage or hearing loss like I have.

Someone should hurt you for saying "icky."
But oh well.

If you're talking about earwax buildup (which happens to me a lot), you can buy eardrops to break down the earwax, then use a bulb syringe to remove it. Not as effective as a doctor visit, but certainly helps a ton.

I've heard that being in close proximity to a thermonuclear explosion creates an over/under-pressure effect that is very good at clearing out earwax.

If it just feels stopped up, it could be just clogged with wax. My ear was like that, but mine also made me actually sick because of it. I went to the docter and they took a stick and dug deep (I mean deep deep) in my ear and pulled out a huge hunk of wax. I was feeling better in about 30 seconds.

But ya, off the story, I would make a quick trip to the docter, just in case.

I've had an ear infection the past couple of days. Trust me when I say this, go to the doctor. He'll give you just what you need to fix you right up. He gave me some medicine and now I feel fine. And when I went, all he did was look in my ears. No needles or poking in various places involved.

Does anyone else find the fear of doctors highly irrational? They're there to make you better, and if they do cause you pain with a needle or whatever it will be a small amount of pain, in the name of relieving you from high levels of long-term pain from whatever's wrong with you.

Bah, you people win. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. -_-

DogSRoOL, I'm curious how you'd actually do that with the bulb syringe...I tried that this morning and it seemed to make it worse :/

Thanks for the replies guys. Guess this is one for the doc then.
