Basically, a bunch of radio recordings of various things in space. Really weird and really cool.

That's pretty cool, although I wish the constant background noise wasn't so loud

How was this recorded? Or were the sounds simply reproduced as close as possible to what they're "supposed to sound like" if you could hear sound in space? Nice site.

radio-wave emissions
I can't wait for the day schools get the money they need, and the military has to hold bake sales to afford bombs.

Towards the end, those noises coming from Ganymedes' Magnetosphere were kinda creepy. Reminded me of the movie Mission to Mars. Creeepy.
DO NOT WANT.

haha i love saturn's ring. apparently voyager 2's radio antenna hit the dust particles in the ring making a crackling noise..

that's got to be the largest record player ever. think about it.

You can hear them alone on the home page.

sound can't travel, but frequencies can be heard once in the atmosphere. and that's how they do it.

space is like watching a spectrum analyzer with no speakers.

and cazor just won this thread.

Cool. Now they should have one so we can listen workin' human guts ;)
My blawgh.

Waves can travel through a vacuum. Radio waves and light waves have no problem.

2006-06-12, 2:42 PM #18
That's because they aren't waves in the traditional sense. Waves are the movement of a medium; light and radio are just different frequencies of a self-propogating elctromagnetic charge that happens to share some characteristics of a wave.
Wikissassi sucks.

I don't really care about all that. The sounds are cool and wierd, mkay?

Was it that crappy Mars movie, or is that something else?

It probably was that crappy mars movie, but it was still freaky. It involved astronauts finding a huge pyramid on Mars and they get killed by a huge living sandstorm or something.
DO NOT WANT.

Oh yeah. It was one of the few action movies where the black guy didn't die.

I don't think so, although I know this guy has done other movies. Also had the guy-that-got-left-behind-because-they-thought-he-might-get-sick from Apollo 13.

Hey, Mission to Mars wasn't that crappy. At least when compared with Red Planet or (God forbid) Ghosts of Mars.

Still, it's a sad state of affairs when the best Mars movie is "Rocketman".

I think he was in Ghosts of Mars.

-Don Cheadle was in Mission to Mars. Gary Sinese and him and this one chick are in a giant face (the giant face, in cydona valley, to be exact) and they learn that the movie is lame .
2006-06-13, 6:03 PM #31
Rocketman? What? The best mars movie is total recal. I mean, wtf? Rocketman?
Wikissassi sucks.
2006-06-13, 7:45 PM #32
Total Recall's okay...I guess maybe it's the best Mars movie, but that's not saying much.

It's so increibly stupid yet there's just something undeniably laughable about Harland William's face and voice.

-I hate his stand-up, though. I mean, I loved Steven Wright, and I was totally pulling for Jay London, but to be honest, you have to just be scary looking like them if you want to do standup that consists *entirely* of one-liners. That's not stand-up comedy, that's just telling jokes.
