My high school had a trebuchet, but enemy archers burned it down with fire arrows.
2006-06-14, 8:14 PM #11
Isn't this like the fourth one you've built Caz? Or am I thinking of another person?

Ah, but I shall attack your trebucket with swordsmen in the critical time it takes to deploy between moving around and being ready to fire!

I will attack you with an armored infantry column or possibly an airstrike.

Cow, spe and I got into it in the last thread (jokingly, of course).

And the title of the last thread was "Can you say, Trebuchet?" so I had that recorded anyway.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Horses are much better to attack them with, They have incredible speed and flanking ability, and can go off to the side while your main infantry force attacks from the front.

Tanks have heavy armor, ablative armor, machineguns, artillery cannons, long-range and wide-spectrum sensor packages and limited point defense capability.

Your move.

I think MythBusters looked at a myth about Mexicans using a giant trebuchet or other device to launch themselves across the border. It didn't turn out too well for Buster in that episode :P

yes, and that isn't the payload side of the arm. the 'illegal' would just swing around for a bit. there's no way i'd launch myself with that thing. im afraid of it killing me when it's just sitting there.

actually, oddly enough, about 15 minutes after that picture was taken we loaded that box with 320 pounds of cinder blocks, pulled the arm down about halfway and the arm snapped in two at the axle.

me and my friend were swinging in the part that fell 20 feet to the ground and had a 100 pound hunk of the arm fall right into it. (we would have probably taken serious damage) we've fixed the trebuchet arm since then, but yeah. we're all very afraid of it killing someone now.
