I'm backpacking across Europe for 6 months starting tomarrow

I leave from boston-->shannon-->london tomarrow afternoon. Me and my english buddy will be backpacking across europe for 6 months with $6000 in our pockets(well, not literally in our pockets). Not that my absence means anything to most of you, I'm not quite as active as I used to be( whether it be on irc, britstorm, or the TDiR crowd ), so I don't expect you guys to really notice :P. Here's the big list of our loose itinerary:

London UK
Dorset UK
Portsmouth UK
Alderney (UK Channel Island) (For all of July)
Cherborg FR
Normandy FR
Paris FR
Tours/Borges FR
Montigny FR
Belgium
Rotterdam NTL
Amsterdam NTL
A lot of places in Germany
A tour of the coast of Italy
Switzerland
--->Random places in Eastern Europe including Bulgaria, Prague, then up towards Poland.

We have friends throughout where we are going which we can stay (we have a house all to ourselves in Montigny for however long we want, free). Other than that, we'll be staying in hostels/camping/wherever we can find. If any of you have a couch somewhere that you wont mind two attractive, young, charismatic males sleeping on it, please feel free to leave your address :D Travel tips, comments, or questions would be greatly appreciated :)

Have fun, you are pretty much doing what I've dreamed of doing for a while now. Except I want to do it with pretty girls!

Well, I don't know if you're going to Rotterdam to see a nice, old Dutch city, but if so, you're going to the wrong place. Rotterdam is old, but got bombed in WW2, so it's all modern architecture. Holland has cities and towns that are much more charming and picturesque.

Rotterdam is fun if you have some friends there, or if you want to check out the club scene, or if you want to get really stoned for lots cheaper than in Amsterdam, haha.

I may have some tips, depending on what you want to do.

Watch out for the frenchies and krauts. They hate us. :P

Try to contact me in an internet cafe or something when you're in Amsterdam/Rotterdam, and I'll try to come and meet up.

The only real reason to go to Belgium is the Parkpop Metal Meeting.

Belgium is one of those places that just isn't great to go to. Like Finland.

On top of my at least 70 pound pack I'm carrying my guitar, it's going to be such a *****, haha. I'm just going to hope that I can get it as a carry-on. On top of that I have to use a gig-bag because my hardshell isn't that carry-able. I'm just going to stuff whatever clothes I can in there for padding.

Best tip ever: travel lightly, always.

You don't need anything except for a pocketknife, a tent maybe, a camera and two sets of clothes. (So you can wear one set while the other can be washed).

If you need more clothes, just buy some cheap shorts or shirts along the way, it's summertime after all.

i once carried my classical guitar with a backpack over it. it's pretty clever actually. in the gig bag of course, but literally sewn(?) the backpack over my gigbag. with proper front strapping it's that heavy.

Oh, but you can get great fries in Belgium.

And don't worry about Germans not liking the English. It will only go on until you're out of the World Cup (probably after the next game :P).
Sorry for the lousy German
