I should buy a UPS...I really don't feel like shutting down.

Although I probably should. Meh.

Nah. Although I use my computer for interenet mostly, and satellite internet can go out during storms.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Upload sucks. It beats dial up, if only just so.

But I don't game online. At all, well, save for WC3. That's different, it's an RTS.

It sucks for upload but download I get around 80 kb/s. Occasionally if it's a good server I've maintained 100 kb/s before, but those downloads are few and far between. I'd love to have DSL or cable, but can't get them here.

I'm not sure what convinced my parents to finally get the satellite internet, but I'm pretty happy with it (even if it can get slow sometimes).

And you're still on 56k? Ouch. I was on 28k until last August.

Until last August, we'd always had dial up. I still know a family or two on it.

I have never really bothered with turning any electric devices down when there's a thunderstorm. Only just 2 days ago the lightning hit in an adjecent street and now the thought occured that it might be a nice idea to shut my pc down next time I hear the thunder...

We lost power for a few seconds at work today (bank)..had to run all our terminals offline all day (Verizon line between our branch & the main office was shot after a storm yesterday evening)..

We came back up shortly thereafter, but still were able to leave early-ish. :P

I have a UPS. It's really handy :D

It can power my entire setup for 15 minutes in an outage.

If I turn my PC off, it can power my server box and all the networking for about an hour, which allows me to pull my lappy out and get on the net. :D

Do storms that knock out power only happen in America, or something? I've had power cuts before, but none caused by storms. I think.

Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Hurricanes are pretty good about knocking power out. :P

This was just a severe thunderstorm (hail/etc) though.
