I've been depending on others to get my web projects done for too long. It's time I take the reigns and just do the god damned thing on my own. No waiting for someone else to not do it. Sure, I just wanted to draw a comic and update it regularly, but NO. I have to become a web designer to have a webcomic.

So. Be. It.

I need from you, massassi, the best damn sources for learning the following:

HTML
CSS
PHP

And the integration of all the above. I need tutorials that treat me like a god damned fourth grader. I need my hand held through the whole process. I'm telling you: My HTML knowledge extends to bold, italics, and url links. I use frontpage for EVERYTHING. I need as many different sources, and as stupid of sources as you've got.

Help me learn to build a multiple layered complex website in the span of a few weeks.

http://www.lissaexplains.com <- it's got html, CSS and maybe some PHP... I don't know, but it's ment to teach 10 year olds how to make websites. so it's got the basics of some of that stuff.

the only down side is the girly theme and the annoying popups and popunders, she has loads of ads all over the site, but it's still a good site to easily explain HTML to beginners before moving onto harder stuff.

http://www.w3schools.com/ is where I started and is probably one of the best resources. Their live editor is incredibly helpful.

I have bookmarks to a bunch of CSS sites, just because I still don't fully understand how to do everything I want. CSS is wondefully simple, but it can also be wonderfully complex and deep.

Best place for PHP is the documentation on the PHP website. The comments on each function provide tons of examples.

Don't forget to check your local library for design books. Most of the good ones have discs in them that are really helpful.

Naturally. A good library is just a genteel black hole that knows how to read.

Look for the primers on the left for the basics (like html). Look further down at "Beyond HTML" for php, javascripts, etc.

CSS is relatively easy... I've picked it up with just a couple days of using it.

same here, I looked at the CSS and figured out what it did from messing about with it.

I've since looked at a few tutorials here and there until I'm happy with it.

Heh, try doing complicated layouts in CSS, while making them render correctly in IE. It's not so easy then.

If you're gonna do PHP dev, do it on a server with PHP 5. Your life will be happier.

I always like the "Sams Teach Yourself ______ In 24 Hours/Days" books. Their simple, well written, often come with a cd containing examples and goodies and make great reference books.
Other than that http://www.w3schools.com/ like Ric_Olie suggested.

I work at an open source company, my bosses tell don't even try making it work in IE, let alone installing it on a computer and seeing if it will work. (An office where every computer doesnt have IE... it's a wonderful place)

Wow.. no offense, but your company must suck. It doesn't take a lot of brainpower to understand that 80% of people use IE.

Actually closer to 90%. IE still sucks and is very noncompliant to standards, despite how many people use it.
