Ladies and Gentlemen, JSM Lan Party 2006 is upon us! The powers-at-be have requested I re-extend the invitation to Massassi again this year:
What it is:
[From the site]
The Jacob Smith Memorial LAN party is a charitable event held once a year to help raise money for cancer research. Jacob Smith was 16 years old when he passed away after a long battle with cancer. This event is held in remembrance of his life and to give hope to other victims of this disease.
Where it is:
Duluth, Minnesota: Harbor City International School
When it is:
July 20th - 22nd
That's right, THREE days of awesome.
How much it is:
$20 for PC, $10 for console/idle watchers.
Not only is this absolutely inexpensive compared to some lan parties: Almost 100% of that goes to Cancer Research. Everyone involved with this event is donating their time, and in some cases, even their own money.
Why it is:
This LAN is put together by a bunch of teenagers. Besides the obvious wanting to have some fun, this event shows that young gamers are GOOD PEOPLE TOO! Good enough to want to help out the Cancer Research and help save people like Jacob Smith. The entire event is admirable, and really worth the cause.
What to do:
GO AND PRE-REGISTER! Genki and I both are already pre-registered, as well as my lovely lady. If you can make it (Yecti, Cazor, Buck?) pre-register and possibly win an i-pod nano! This pre-registration also helps them figure out how much food they need, etc.
As you already noticed, two of massassi's coolest cats are going to be there: YOU SHOULD BE THERE TOO!
