I KNOW I'm not seeing things, but maybe SCI-FI threw that in just to be losers.

1. Go here: http://www.scifi.com/stargate/
2. Near the bottom, "Watch Preview"
3. About 1/3 of the way you'll see SG-1 walking up the ramp, and on the left is O'Neill putting on his cap!

Surely this won't be permanent, otherwise I might pass out for joy!

He's going to be in 4 or 5 episodes of SG-1 and 1 episode of Atlantis.

yup. IMHO, he is Stargate SG-1 and his absence is the reason the last two seasons sucked.

If anything, season nine goes back to formula that made the early seasons good.

Yes, RDA is/was MacGuyver. Carter actually says something like "I can't believe we managed to MacGuyver this together" in the first episode [referring to the dialing computer].

And as Avenger said, I think it's 5 episodes, and both series he's guest starring in.

Yeah, I think the new episodes are very on par with the rest of the show. Different, but Mitchell is a good character too.

Best part of last season is where they're talking about Vala's child...

Teal'c: You have been impregnated without copulation.
Vala: Yes, and I'm absolutely terrified. Have any of you ever heard of anything like it?
Mitchell: Well, there's one.
Teal'c: Darth Vader.
Vala: Really?
Teal'c: Hmm.
Vala: How did that turn out?
Mitchell: Actually, I was thinking of King Arthur.

I think sam was the one one thinking Jesus... But the interaction there with Vala and teal'c was awesome.
