Hey folks, I'm working on a pirate questline for Oblivion (see thread here ) and I was wondering if any of you had voice acting talent. Obviously you'll need to be able to get into the pirate accent and lingo.

No drinking game planned yet, but i do have pirates singing around a fire singing pirate songs. So please do :p

I'm hopin I can find a modeller who can model an eyepatch, tricorn hat and pirate bandana. But since the tools are so limited the modellers can't make the .erm(i think its erm) files that allow the models to stretch to the player's head. The tricorn and bicorn hats should be doable even without stretching, but the bandana and eyepatch may be a little touchy. Here's to hoping.

I just finished coding the base of the pirate ship plundering quest. You'll be able to join a buccaneer crew and plunder ships. The quest is a reoccuring quest, so random pirates spawn on the enemy ship, along with a randomized captain, first mate and loot. There is even a possibility that you'll accidentally boarded a cursed crew of skeleton swashbucklers or even a ghost crew. The ghost crew may or may not come with the final release as part of the boarding quest, as they will be featured in the longer Curse of the Seaborne quest line.

There will also be a fence (not limited to the thieve's guild), a blacksmith, a clothier, and a tatoo designer. Yep, a mate and I have figured out a way to have tatoos in the game though its not perfect yet. We're adding them by the means of shaders, but the problem is that those shaders affect the whole body. So you can not have "only" a chest tatoo. Or only a facial tattoo. Of course if we can figure out how to affect specific limbs, we may actually be able to have more detailed facial hair and a barber shop.

Also, there will be a lot of Monkey Island references just because Monkey Island series is the best damn game series ever.

If you could pull it off that would be pretty damn awesome. I can supply the textures. You'd just have to learn how to use nifskope and get them into the game. The main elderscrolls forums have tutorials on how to do it. Takes some time to get comfy with it though, I heard. One thing that you COULD do so that they stretch to the character's head is open the models in nifskope, export them as .obj, open them in Blender, and use the existing vertices/polygons to model the new hats.

What kind of pirate voice do you want? A totally over the top "ARRR!" or a more subtle, authentic British sounding one (ala Jack Sparrow)?

Do you seriously want me to sing pirate songs?

I'd like to see both, depending on the character, actually.

Captain Belenos would be more over the top, like Mr. Gibbs, while his first mate Red would sound more like Sparrow.

Tracer, if you can pull it off with good quality, I definatly do.

Where are the lines?

I'm going to finish the boarding quest scripting, and then I'll write the voice script and post the lines.
