The University of North Carolina has finally found a network server that, although missing for four years, hasn't missed a packet in all that time. Try as they might, university administrators couldn't find the server. Working with Novell Inc., IT workers tracked it down by meticulously following cable until they literally ran into a wall. The server had been mistakenly sealed behind drywall by maintenance workers.

I had something like that once and I accidentally opened it. Then it linked every word on internet explorer to a dictionary defintion site.

Amazing what you'll find in your starup if you leave it for a few years. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif] I set my starup folder to be unwritable so nasty programs can't add files to it.

A woman brought her home computer into work yesterday. She was complaining that it was "shutting down every time she tried to go online"... Ok, fine, its got Sasser, I thought... Yes, that, and about 20 other viruses. Also, it had more than 700 various bits of spyware and adware running on startup. It was a mess. Every 2 or 3 seconds another popup would appear......

The saddest thing is, Ive seen *much* worse on this job.

Just like drugs or any other form peer pressure, you can apply the same tactic to computers by JUST SAYING NO!

America doesn't deserve computers I swear.

It's not going to change until people get smart about using computers, or at least until the baby boomers all die.

There's an outstanding site which lists all the processes that are normal for windows to be running, and what they are. I can't remember where it is though [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif]

I would say it's definitely suspicious. And IW ould also say that allowing Microsoft office to start up isn't a smart move either. /hate findfast
