TimeWolfOfThePast - who's the artist? I thougt it was arcipello at first, but didn't find anything like that on his deviantART. Really looks like his style, though.

I use XLG and compiz, too. But KDE only offers fake transparency for menus.

Do you have gset-compiz? And do you use the most actuall compiz sources? gset-compiz allows the transparency for the menus.

I don't know, but it should work, you can set transparency for different window types. But I don't know if it works with kde. I think that thing is configuring everything with gconf, no idea how the configuration is done when using Compiz with KDE.
