He was going to shoot happy people in Toronto until he ran out of the 6300 rounds of ammo he had in his trunk. A friendly dog in a park changed the guy's mind.

Just think how many people may have been killed before police could get to him if that dog didn't approach him.

He turned himself in for something he didn't do? He didn't actually do anything wrong, unless Canadia (yes I spelled it Canadia :P) has some difference in laws. He had intention, to kill but that's it. Interesting.

yeah but i think the anti tank missles must be on a clearly marked externally mounted launcher which also has to be within a certain measurement range which depends on the size of the vehicle... those laws always get you with the details

We're not allowed to carry weapons without a permit here. One of the reasons our percentage of gun deaths per capita is much lower than our neighbours to the south.

They said on the radio early yesterday that the guy seemed to be mentally unfit. Well duhh...!

but you can't carry a concealed weapon or you can get in trouble so you'd have to wear your gun in the open... and then you couldn't hardly go into any place though they can't really do much about it except ask that you leave the gun in your car... then there are places that you definately cannot go into with a gun like government offices and banks...

but you can keep a gun in your vehicle without a special permit but again you can get in trouble if it's not visible... like on a "i'm so redneck it hurts" gun rack or something

also all this still falls under the classic "if i don't get caught" thing

Because the dog's motive was clearly to save peoples lives, not just to play frisbee. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/rolleyes.gif]

And gun laws in the US vary depending on the state you live in. For example, in Georgia you don't need a permit or license to buy or own any firearm, but you must have a permit to carry and handgun (but not a rifle) and if I recall correctly it MUST be concealed. (which is completely opposite of what Jim just said, I realize... but imo that would make more sense because they don't want people walking down the street waving a handgun freaking people out)

Yeah, there's a crazy guy who lives in my town in Kentucky who has an AK-47 strapped to the back window of his truck.

Only in Kentucky.

If I were a playful dog, I'd save lives. And also play frisbee.

Here in PA it's legal to have a concealed weapon, but you have to have a permit. I vaguely rememeber my 6th grade history teacher filling my class in on these details.

My history teacher carries a Colt Revolver in his jacket, and in his truck is a gun rack with 2 shot guns and a rifle. Probably a DE in a compartment somewhere.

There are semi-automatic versions of the Ak-47. I know of a person that went to downtown Portland and bought one for about $70.

Yeah, just like there is a semi-automatic version of the M16 - the AR15. One of the dad's in my old scout troop used to have one, he brought it once to one of our shootouts... that is an awesome gun [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Oddly enough, though, I hear as of recently you can't buy those from stores anymore. They're still perfectly legal to buy from individual owners and such, but apparently they just don't sell them in stores anymore. Like anywhere. In the US at least.
