Pirate mod : Voice Actors

Alright, I'm not going to be doing this for every script I write, merely for this one. I had a few volunteers for voice acting in my mod so here I have a script with a lot of lines you can be tested on. This is for a pirate ghost you meet up on a beach. His presence is the key to advancement in the Curse of the Seaborne quest, but is also meant to be comical with somewhat of a MI flavor.

Feel free to post samples here, or send them to my email (jep dot laliberte at gmail dot com). Note that I don't want special ethereal effects on this character's voice.

I will be evaluating the acting skills and the sound quality of you recording.

Script :

Ghost of Bill Jones

GBJ : Boo

PC Choices: 1. Arg! A ghost! 2. Ha, that didn't scare me! 3. [Say nothing]

1 - GBJ : [laughter] I always wanted to do that!
2 - GBJ : Didn't scare you? Look at you, yer shakin!
3 - GBJ : [laughter] I always wanted to do that!

PC Choices : 1. Who are you?

1 - GBJ : Ah, straight to the point are we? I expected ye to grovel in fear longer!
- GBJ : Bill Jones the name, I'm but a humble pirate on Daventry's crew.
- GBJ : Or at least I was before they bloody turned on me!

PC Choices : 1. What happened? 2. Sea Fortress 3. Rosario Daventry

1 - GBJ : Can't tell ya much, lad. 'Bout a year Daventry showed up in Booty.
- GBJ : Told us 'bout a big ol' pirate treasure, bigger than any other!
- GBJ : Got a whole lot of us to make sail with him, he did. Blind fools is what we were.
- GBJ : We found the sea fortress and its treasure. Then something happened.
- GBJ : Was like a big tavern brawl, you see. We all wanted the treasure as our own.
- GBJ : And here I be. Heh. Don't know how it happened, but I be a ghost on a beach.

2 - GBJ : Aye, I know where it is. Ye thirst for treasure I see.
- GBJ : Be warned, mate, yer in for a bigger ride than ye think.
- GBJ : You may get the riches. Or ye may end like me. Still tempting?

3 - tba

PC Choices : 1. Still tempting. So where is it? 2. Nevermind, I like me whole and not ghostly.

1 - GBJ : Hold up there you! I'm supposed to be a pirate, evil and greedy!
- GBJ : Can't give up me secrets for free! Besides, all ghosts on a beach should be mysterious and give errands!
- GBJ : Hmmm, I've gots to find you some work... Ah yes!

2 - GBJ : Aye, being see-through ain't much of a thrill after a few days!

PC Choices : 1. What do you want? 2. Nevermind, not worth the effort.

1 - GBJ : Find me heirloom compass, it be's in me ol' home's basement!
- GBJ : Ye'll find it in Booty, but its probably got a new owner by now.
- GBJ : Trap door's well hidden, ain't no chance he found it.
- GBJ : Its the house left of the Seawench Inn.
- GBJ : Lure the new owner out, find the basement and get me me compass.

PC Choices : 1. Alright, I'll find your compass. 2. What use is a compass to a ghost?

1 - GBJ : I'll give you your information then. Good bye.
2 - GBJ : I like shiny things, don't question me!

* Returning the compass

1. GBJ : Ah so you've got me compass! Good lad. Put it on my corpse.

* Added Compass to corpse

1. GBJ : This should work. This here compass will point ye to the fortress.

PC Choices : 1. How'd you do that? 2. Aren't you supposed to be evil and greedy?

1. GBJ : I'm a bloody ghost. Theres gotta be good parts of being a ghost!
2. GBJ : Well then I guess I have to forget the fantasy that I'm a pirate then, hmmm?

PC Choices : 1. Thank you, I best be on my way. 2. [Say nothing and leave]

1. GBJ : Don't forget to pick up yer compass, mate! Be careful of Daventry's crew, and good luck.
2. GBJ : Oh yes, ignore the old dead ghost pirate! Arg! Don't forget your compass, ye swab!

*Have ghost wander around, humming/singing a sea chanty!

That wasn't nearly pirate-y enough.
2006-07-07, 8:15 PM #3
I do a decent pirate voice, but my mic isn't nearly good enough to do this :(
"Jayne, this is something the Captain has to do for himself"

"N-No it's not!"

"Oh."

I want the players to be able to understand. Not try to understand what he's saying.

Feel free to suggest changes though. (and by that I don't mean, "Make it more pirate-y". Give examples, describe it.)

Awww, it's okay buddy.

Bet you don't finish it.

Actually I kept this mod small enough that I will finish it. Usually my problem is that I see bigger than the time I'm willing to put in it. Either way, even if I don't finish it, wont change much in my life. Had fun while doing it, and I'm not getting payed either way.

Huh.

I thought it was because you never finish anything.

Last one, I promise.

I just couldn't resist.

I just recently got oblivion, so I can't wait to play this mod.
"Jayne, this is something the Captain has to do for himself"

Hey Jepman.

Lets make an Evil Dead mod for Oblivion. It'll be like 900 times better than this. Because it'll have ASH, chainsaws, and a BOOMSTICK.

I can't do a decent pirate voice, but I COULD sing one of many decent sea shanties if you want. Lemme know if you're interested :p :D

I know a couple by heart, and I have a CD with a choir singing some :D

You should be aware though, most Sea Shanties involve a girl, not songs of pirates :p

Here's one, for example. (May not be perfect, I sang this a long time ago :D )

Oh farewell to you my Nancy
Ten thousand times adeiu!
I'm bound to cross the ocean girl
Once more to part from you... (once more)
Once more to part from you fine girl
You're the girl that I adore
But still I live in hopes to see old Swansea Town once more.

Old Swansea Town once more fine girl
You're the girl that I adore
But still I live in hopes to see old Swansea Town once more.

Now we're bound to go around Cape Horn
For Fresco and afar.
I'll write you letters when I land there.
And you'll know I'm home (and you'll know I'm home)
And you'll know I'm home (and you'll know I'm home) fine girl
You're the girl that I adore
But still I live in hopes to see old Swansea Town once more.
Old Swansea Town once more fine girl.
You're the girl that I adore!
But still I live in hopes to see old Swansea Town once more.

Now we're off to Swansea Town we are!
I can see the lights quite plain!
And I know my Nancy's down by the beach
With her apron all astray.
So take my ropes and make me fast.
I'm in Swansea Town once more.
And all I live in hopes to see, is old Swansea Town once more.

Old Swansea Town once more, you're the girl that I adore.
But all I live in hopes to see... old Swansea Town once more.

Beautiful song, but I dunno if it's a Pirate song. I'll go through my CDs and see if I can find something really appropriate.

The song "Lorelei" by Blackmore's Night is kind of like a sea-shanty. I don't know if it really counts.

The trouble with sea shanties is.. too many people try to sing them. They sound better when shouted usually. As far as piratey songs go.. Yohoho and a bottle of rum! Or Shiver My Timbers. Barretts Privateers. Barretts would actually be a great one. Heres a link to the lyrics and an mp3 sample. That site has many other lyrics/samples of chanties also.

Ask for me in #massassi. I have some good sea shanties.

I could do a pirate voice quite well, but like Glyde Bane, I don't have a good microphone. :(
I'm just a little boy.

Umm, they're supposed to be sung. My choir CD is 100% awesome proof of that. :p
