So I take it they aren't the THX enhanced ones? With lightsabers and blasters that weren't completely ugly?

Nope, they're supposed to be the completely original theatrical releases. Right down to it not saying "Episode IV: A New Hope" in the scrolling text at the beginning of ANH.

Great...now I have to buy the OT trilogy on DVD again.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I guess I'm gonna get that boxset one day, perhaps not now when it's going to be really expensive.

Yet I already have original SW films on DVD :ninja:

Yknow I was always under the impression that I'd seen this several times in HMV.

Must have been the mid-90s versions I guess, because it definately wasn't the special editions.
nope.

I think they released some SW DVD's with the original artwork lately, which actually were the 2004 versions but just with the original artwork.

The article says they're only available between September and December.

But, then, these DVDs weren't supposed to be available to begin with, so...

No one is forcing you to buy them y'know. I know I won't. I'll just wait for a DVD release of the 1997 SEs. Those were a nice middle road in my opinion.

Except there weren't just "two" versions. At the very least there was:

Original theatrical version
THX remastered version
"special edition" theatrical release (included a bunch of real changes)
and finally, the new dvd release, which changed them again

didn't the original theatrical release have the beggers canyon race in it?

Jack: "Why not!"

The only star wars movies I have are a set of "special edition" VHS that were given to me back in, I guess, the late '90s. It's good enough for me, before that we had an ancient VHS that had recorded ESB off of HBO in the mid-80s.

But then again, I don't even own a cell phone, so...
