The sandwich for the almighty
2006-07-17, 7:39 PM #1
To make a short story shorter, I was in Philadelphia for the weekend ([sub]Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania for those who fail in geography.)[/sub] To delight my fine tastes, I just had to get a philly cheese steak right in the home this sandwich came from. Anyone who visited this city should have atleast heard of the two renowned "rival" vendors of philly cheese steaks. I tried "Pat King of Steaks" last time, and I only saw goodness. This time, I went to "Geno's Steaks." I remembered to take a picture.

Damn good cheese steak, I tell you. Is there any food greater to this?

I live 45 minutes to an hour from there. A wonderful sandwich, the Philly cheese steak.

looks nasty... But I know of the power behind such a sandwich. (Can't say I've ever had one in Phily, but then... I've never been to Philadelphia)

Ah yes, I've been to Philly quite a few times, especially when my dad went to optometry school there. It is true that their cheese steaks are really good. Now you made hungry for one and I just finished them up a couple days ago. BTW, I live a couple hours from Philadelphia.
No sig.

I've been to a couple cheesesteak places in Philly. It's all the same to me, but they still tend to be pretty good.

*gasp* how can you not like cheese?

I seriously get home from work every night and eat about a quarter of a block of cheese. Just by itself.

...someday... I'll have a heart attack.

ugh, you're like my brother. I like cheese on some things, but in general I'm nto a fan. When I went to France with my friend and they were always pulling out the really really strong cheeses for dessert (and I promised her I would at least try everything) I thought I was going to cry. What about the chocolate?!

Well it looks like someone threw cheese on a perfectly good doner kebab, and we only ever eat those after a lot of drinking and always regret it in the morning.

The 8500 calorie manwich however, wins the thread.

interestingly enough, cheese and chocolate actually taste really good together. (Take a slice of cheese, and put some hershey's chocolate on top of it and enjoy.) You wouldn't think it would work, but it does. mmmmm.

hey, sugarless, I can understand you not appreciating it, but if you like cheese, and you like chocolate, give it a shot. Don't just assume it won't work, cause sure it sounds like a flop, but once you've tried it, you will thank me for bringing you to the light.

and a new experiment should be a chocolate cheese steak. ???

Cheese and chocolate is up there with things I won't try based on general principle. Other things include French fries dipped in milkshakes.

ok, french fries in milkshakes are gross, because french fries are supposed to be eaten hot and milkshakes must be cold. But both cheese and chocolate taste good either cold or hot (melted).

[and Echoman, if you're not a fan of Hershey's, then use a different, more expensive chocolate. It doesn't really matter. I happen to like the taste of hershey's even if it is less expensive than others.]

and another thing, try using mint chocolate with cheese. very good also.

No, he's right. Any food can be improved with either chocolate or garlic. Cheese is usually garlic, but can be chocolate, too.
