I haven't seen it. I don't know if I should see it or not.

M. Night Shyamalan made The Sixth Sense which I liked. And I forgave him for the problems with Signs. But now, I don't know if he's a good director or not.

I wanted to see it. I loved Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs. The Village was meh. This looked so good in the previews, but reviews are slaughtering it :(

Signs was /awesome/ until they actually showed the aliens. (The video taped scene was good, but they shouldn't have shown them after that.)

It went downhill quite quickly once their screentime increased.

The only thing that makes me want to see that film is Paul Giamatti.

I don't think there can be any doubt about Shyamalan's talent as a director. He's really excellent in that regard. Most people who don't like his films, in my experience, seem to have problems with his writing rather than his directing. Some people like his stories, some people don't. I, admittedly, am a big fan.

That said, I did think Lady in the Water was his weakest work so far. The tension that he keeps up consistently throughout all his other films seemed to be missing at times in this one. ('Course, it didn't help that everyone in the theatre had decided to bring their kids, who were constantly laughing at inappropriate times.) I still enjoyed it, it just wasn't quite on the level I was expecting it to be.

But hey, I loved The Village, so what do I know?

*An entire theater bursts into laughter*

I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing, but I'm guessing it's a bad thing. I have no thoughts on this film. Did I like it? I don't know. I honestly don't know. It wasn't bad though...I think. It was the most unique movie I've ever seen. It was unlike any other movie, but is it good? I don't know. I am so confused. My friends loved it, I am still oblivious.

I really enjoyed the movie. Really made up for the crapfest that was The Village. A bunch of whiny high schoolers were upset that it wasn't a horror film :( and I wanted to kick them in the face.

It's M. Night ****ing Shyamalan. It's not going to be a horror movie. God.

If by 'crapfest' that The Village was you mean 'most brilliant film made in the last decade'...then yes.

Well, did it have a twist?

Not really, no. Small things here and there, but no signature twist.

No, The Village was predictable. I knew the "twists" within the first twenty minutes (there was a discrepency concerning the supposed era of time and something someone mentioned, a mistake M. Night wouldn't make). It was boring. While the scene where the girl cries after professing her love to Jouaquin was funny, the rest of the scenes were boring and only put off the inevitable and longed-for rolling of the credits.

I fell asleep during that movie. I have never fallen asleep during a movie (except 3 Ninjas Strike Back when I was, like, 11).

Lady in the Water had no twist. The girl is who she appears to be, and the bad guys are who they appear to be. Straight-forward, pretty much. Likeable characters, decent story, the critic's commentary on the movie's script , and the general dialogue was well-written.
