Hello Massassi! It's been 7 or 8 weeks since I last talked to you. My basic training just got over(my basic was only realistically 6 weeks long with one week at the end where we did AIT stuff so the basic-only people could graduate). Monday we start AIT training(essentially job training). I'm a Cannon Crewmember, so I get to blow all kinds of **** up with a self-propelled M109 Paladin. 7 more weeks and I'll be home. My platoon has done very well, so we were allowed on-post passes today, which is why I'm able to post this. We were also allowed to buy a 34" TV and DVD player with movies that we can watch during our free time. AIT is going to be a lot more enjoyable than BCT(Basic Combat Training).
Strangely, I still enjoyed BCT. The drill sergeants we have are pretty kick *** and I did things I never would have done before. Ever climbed a 60' log ladder with only about 7 logs making up the whole ladder and no safety harnesses? I did that yesterday. Last week I low crawled under live machine gun rounds and artillery going off over my head. I've also shot an M16, M249 SAW, M203 grenade launcher, M40 machine gun, AT-4 Anti-tank rocket, set up claymores, and a lot of other fun stuff. Of course some bad things happen, usually because someone was screwing off and not doing their job, so we'd get punished. Right now it's all good though. Sunday we get off and we'll do nothing but watch movies. There is so much to write about, but I'm never going to get to even 1/100th of it before I have to leave. Just saying Hi and if you want to mail me and ask questions about basic training, the address is:

Yes, this is a shameless ploy to get more mail. Anyday you get mail is a good day. Besides, I would love to relate my experiences more to you guys.
I may be able to reply to some of your responses tomorrow because we get another on-post pass, but you never know.
7 more weeks! Bye for now.
