Do you use QuickReply?
2006-07-24, 1:53 AM #1
I'm just curious how many people use the QuickReply feature. I find it incredibly useful and much more convenient than hitting the "post reply" button. I use it almost exclusively, except for when I have something to attach.

Though, can we make it so that we can just click in the box to start the reply, and not have to click on one of the icons with a user's post?

I'm so used to doing it the "slow" way that it's just natural now. I tried using it once or twice but I didn't see any real advantage to it.
2006-07-24, 2:17 AM #3
it's really not that much faster :-P. and yeah, basically what dracus said.

Quick reply is convenient.

I would use it, if I didn't have to check a stupid box first. It takes away the entire advantage.

I use the old method. Out of habit, I guess. I just seem to have some aversion to using the quick reply =/
2006-07-24, 3:28 AM #11
OMG I AM USING QUICK REPLY RIGHT NOW
2006-07-24, 3:28 AM #12
No, because it's not even a simple 2-step quick reply like on some forums since you have to click a quick reply button from some post before quickreplying :P

Almost, once. The "Go advanced" button was too ... tempting ... :ninja:

If you didn't have to hit something to turn it on, it'd be better and I might use it

I'm used to using it like this, please fix it. :psyduck:

2006-07-24, 8:16 AM #19
Yeah right now it's pretty much useless since you have to find a post to "reply" to.

I would use it if you'd change it to not require a post to reply to.
2006-07-24, 8:19 AM #20
does it matter which post you reply to?

i just click any random button in the thread.
2006-07-24, 8:26 AM #21
Despite the fact some mastermind made it less useful (like has been said numerous times), I still use it. Like Spork said, old habits die hard, and since most of the forums I use nowadays have it, it's an old, established habit.

And most certainly I won't bother to find any particular post. Normally I click the button in the last post, because it's closest to the text box. If somebody actually uses the bizarre, irrational threaded forum mode where it matters... Well, you have my sympathies if not understanding...

Did it for this reply, but I find it easier to just click "Post Reply" and do it the long way.
2006-07-24, 10:23 AM #27
Yes I do. I agree that it would be easier to just click on the box instead of someone's post, though.
DO NOT WANT.
2006-07-24, 10:28 AM #28
Quick reply all the way. It would be way better if it was fixed though, like so many before me have stated.

Nope, never do.

I use it, but I prefer the way SMF does quick reply much more. The box is just there, ready to use, don't have to click on anything first. I like the way SMF's quotes work with the quick reply much better too. Click the quote button on a post, it puts the quote in the quick reply box and you're ready to go...
2006-07-24, 11:01 AM #31
yes
2006-07-24, 11:02 AM #32
Is this thread going to lead to QuickReply actually being made quick so more people use it?
2006-07-24, 11:07 AM #33
Never. It's stupid.

I use it unless I have something long to type.
I had a blog. It sucked.
2006-07-24, 12:24 PM #37
I'd use it if I didn't have to specify which post I was replying to.

VB does it too, if some lazy admin would just change the option! *growl*

Oh, and I find myself using the quote button a LOT. Like here.

Agreed. It's really annoying. I still use it sometimes though.

Usually I do the normal, but occasionally I'll use quick reply so I voted sometimes.
